Inaccuracies of Curved Displays?

Post by life_at_1ms » 03 Mar 2020, 16:42

I found an interested thread on HardOCP:
https://hardforum.com/threads/optical-i ... s.1993524/

In short: the curve along the y axis plus the lack of curve along the x axis leaves the "curved" displays less accurate than flat displays - unless they're super wide. For regular widths - from the point of view of the eye - doesn't a curve introduce inaccuracy by only being curved along one axis?

Isn't it easier for the eye/brain to correct for less deceptive models like:
-- totally flat
-- curved equally along both axes
