BENQ XL2730z or ViewSonic 27" XG270?

Post by Aesthesis » 19 Mar 2020, 20:32

I'm seriously debating on selling my BenQ XL2730z and buying that Viewsonic XG270 instead but I'm on the edge about the resolution / pixel density. I remember gaming on a Eizo Foris FG2421 1080p 120hz and I remember in CSGO I felt like I had trouble distinguishing details on distance because there just weren't enough pixels.

I just feel like for my eyes my monitors refresh rate is starting to be a serious bottleneck, especially when I play Kovaak's Aim Trainer as I sometimes have trouble seeing the next target sharp enough when I'm flicking around so I kind of have to slow down my aiming to see clearly.

But the downgrade from 1440p -> 1080p especially on a 27" feels like I'm maybe giving up too much detail and I'm going to hate it in any game where you'd benefit from more pixels. However maybe the 1080p IPS is still much nicer even in single player games than 1440p and bad color TN? I don't know!

Help me decide

Well.. it depends,

personally I would choose the 1080P" 240hz for games like csgo and so on.
And the 1440P for single player games.

Stay away from the XL2730Z literally the worst panel implementation by BenQ, it doesn't accept increased VT and it resets service menu OD values whenever it goes to sleep mode or you switch inputs.

The strobe cross talk at 144hz is horrible and is barley acceptable at 120hz, there's a ton of inverse ghosting with the OD setting.

I own this panel and im making do with it but I'd never wish for anyone to buy it, they fixed everything I'm bitching about in the XL2735 same panel different scaler with all the goodies.
