How is 60hz performance in MAG251rx? Is the console-pc suitable for mixed use?

he might not tell you, you need to first prove him that you got a console, for sure on youtube

Keep in mind that many 240Hz monitors add lag for 60Hz consoles due to a quirk -- some panels are fixed horizontal scan-rate (at maximum scan rate) so they have to buffer a slow signal before outputting at full velocity to a panel that can only be scanned-out quickly.

I don't want to be condescending but Leo Bodnar's input lag tests should be taken with a grain of salt. Not only is it outdated. The tool that is being used is in the context of 60hz
Correct. It's just a VSYNC ON 60fps@60Hz 1080p input lag test.

-- It's useful if you use VSYNC ON and 60Hz and 1080p
so it's good for ranking monitors you plan to use with 1080p consoles with locked VSYNC ON setting

-- It's not useful for VSYNC OFF (even 1080p 60Hz VSYNC OFF)
because the latency gradient changes during VSYNC OFF

-- It's not useful for 4K
because the latency is different for 1080p vs 4K

-- It's not useful for different-Hz
because the latency is different at different Hz

i am on 280hz with elmb off and overdrive 80.

I notice when i am on overdrive 80, when i am on google chrome, scrolling up and down, i do notice some white trailing on the fonts. I move down overdrive to 60 and the issue is resolved. However in game, 60 to 80, i dont notice any image difference.

I have the same with 80 OD on my asus, it doesnt matter if you use 280Hz or 240Hz.
Its all about overdrive, it causes this white ghosting thing while moving the screen, for sure you should see this in games when you move fast.
You can get used to this, 80 OD means faster response time but it might cause the blurry effects, esspecialy while scrolling down on the fonts.
60 OD is best stable, balance between motion clarity and the response time, If we talk about asus then I keep 60 OD in my case, its up to you, btw remember that ELMB lock the 80 OD.

Tested the OD 80 In game, it seems that its pretty ok with visibility (compare to 240hz with 80 OD -too muich), but this 80 is fine only for 280Hz, Im gonna keep testing it, 280Hz is more clear for me compare to 240hz. (you can see that on ufo, on 240hz the ufo's are more clear, more visible than on 240hz.)

I've compared the 280hz asus vs the MSI optix mag251rx nearly a month ago and the MSI is a little less than 1ms faster. (3.1ms g2g average) the asus is 3.7-4.0 g2g average range. And yes, my measurements come very close to every review website through my $400 oscilloscope.

The asus g2g average is slower than the MSI by A LOT. ELMB sync and enhanced motion clarity from 280hz gives the MSI slightly better MPRT. Then again, the MAG251rx also has backlight strobing and it isn't as aggressive as elmb-sync on the asus. I've beaten this to death with a separate in depth topic i made two weeks ago. So i don't feel the need to keep on repeating myself.

did u typo on this? "ELMB sync and enhanced motion clarity from 280hz gives the MSI slightly better MPRT."

You meant "gives the ASUS slightly better MPRT ?" instead?

yeah lol i stand corrected.

i meant MPRT goes to the 280hz asus because of elmb sync at high framerates. but g2g average, THE MSI EASILY WINS and it's not even close. its overdrive setting is simply better. They kept it very simple with only 3 instead of 5.

then again, MPRT at ridiculously high framerates reall doesnt' matter considering how ghosting is so subtle that any more "MPRT" is redundant and counter productive since the trade off of elmb-sync is pixel smearing and strobe crosstalk.
