Could you tell what sensitivity do you use? Then I will tell you may theory why fps_max 300 better(as for me:D), I use 240hz OD 60 with VG279QM.

OD60 at 240hz has 46.4% transitions inside the window, i think having some very minor overshoot with OD80 at 240hz is worth all the 95% transitions inside the window.

Idk know why, but testing all modes I found that I get best results in CS GO using 240hz and 60OD.

I also just bought it, amazing monitor.
I'm coming from an old dell ultrasharp 2408wfp - 60hz with crazy input lag.

I have two settings for now:
one for modern warfare warzone:
- FPS mode.
- OD 40 (im on 100fps).
- Vividpixel 100 (game looks sharper and i can see enemies better)
- Shadowboost 2/3 (I'm not sure whats better)
- Brightness 60
- Contrast 70
- Color Temp - Warm
- Saturation - 45 (Still playing with it, I kinda like 45)

For everyday/internet/reading/studying:
- Racing mode.
- OD 40
- Brightness 40 (ithe monitor is so bright)
- Contrast 70/60 (not sure what is better)
- Vividpixel 50 (text is sharp)
- Blue light filter level 1.
- Color Temp - (its warm but the blue light filter 1 changes it so doesn't matter)

*G-sync is always on.
*ELMB is always off (I dont have high enough fps in games for it).

I have to find other settings for my other games.

if your fps is 300+, just use OD 80 in game for csgo. thats the best OD settings for games.

if you are on your browser, OD 60 is a little better for web surfing and scrolling as OD80 will have abit of whitish effect on text.

bottom line - in game if your fps is above 280...use OD80

Just to ask, why do you use overdrive 60 for 240 Hz? OD 80 is fairly faster and it produces next to none overshoot, especially at 280 Hz, at least from my testing, and according to some online reviews. OD 80 at 240 Hz results in amazing 3.55 ms GtG average response time with negligible 1.4% average error. I could not see any ghosting or inverse ghosting while playing (I also play CS:GO). What's more, OD 60 seems to be slightly slower than OD 40, according to Hardware Unboxed review. Quite unusual. I wonder if that varies between units, or it's just a weird thing this monitor has in general.

Has anyone tried 270hz mode compared to 280?

My guess is that it uses a lower overclocking voltage, I don't have a 270hz setting inside of windows when I set the monitor to 270hz so W10 forces 280hz.

Maybe I have to create a custom resolution with a custom refresh with CRU to be able to run 270hz.

280hz OD80 looks very good on the VG259QM, OD80 is too aggressive at 240hz but imo it's perfect for 280hz, the overshoot level is drastically decreased and the ufo looks very sharp.

Thank you for the information. What's your profile settings on monitor? Daily and gamer profile?

I'm using for gaming
Racing mode - OD 80 (Now)
Adaptive-Sync ON (its should be off? i dont know)
ELMB OFF -
Shadow Boost OFF
Brightness 70 - Contrast 80 - VividPixel 0 -Blue Light Filter Level 0
Color temp user mode default

And yes I already use 240 Hz default with 60 OD. -> 60 OD is better for 120-200 fps range which I reach in my game. I would use OD 80 if I have 240+ fps
I actually see coronas at 80 OD 280 Hz, so if you are as sensitive to them as I am 60 OD is plain better.

I had to use 270Hz on my first VG259QM due to image retention issues with 280Hz, this one has no such problems.
