BenQ XL2540 vs actual Asus TUF VG279QM

Post by forii » 08 Apr 2020, 04:43

Hello,

Im confused, I need some advice, because I think I am crazy about this.

First of all I have/had before for like 2 years = LG 24GM79G-B, TN Monitor /144hz (still have it)

I play FPS games Like Call of Duty Modern Warfare, Apex etc, and Im addicted to clear motion blur with low input lag/response time.

I decided to buy 240hz monitor and I choosen = Asus TUF VG259QM (/VG279QM) because it is IPS panel and has very good input lag/response time, but it doesnt have same good motion blur compare to my LG 24GM79G (144hz TN) - i tested that.

I do not want to use ULMB - i want good motion blur without using this, esspecialy ULMB in Asus works only between 200-280hz, and I do play in my games with Avg FPS = 160

And yea, colors on the Asus are better but they are TOO BRIGHT on the sunny maps, even if I lower brightness/contrast. For movies it is amazing, but for gaming I think i get too used to my TN panel

That is why I want to buy 240 HZ Tn Monitor and I found BenQ XL2540 is very good one, even if the response time and input lag isnt that good to Asus TUF VG259QM (/VG279QM).

Could you just advice me If this BenQ will be fine for me? I have still 2 weeks to ship back that Asus, that is why I need to buy now the BENQ and if it will be fine - then I keep it, if not (but I believe not) then i keep my Asus.

i don't want to stay at 144hz, because I see the difference with move clarity.

I will ask simplier question.

Give me a reason why should I keep (or get used to) Asus TUF VG279QM - which is one of the best latest monitors (maybe except MSI MAG251rx) compare to BenQ XL2540.

What I realised that I do not care of:
- i don't care which monitor has the better colors, all I want is best visibility for gaming and best motion blur with response time and input lag. -> which I believe needs to be TN panel instead of IPS

What do you mean "it doesn't have same good motion blur"? Is it blurrier than your old TN panel when you're moving fast and stuff?

It is not, IPS panels will not have same clear motion blur compare to IPS panels.
My old 144hz had better motion blur (ufo test) than this 240hz (the ufo is more clear to see)

Anyway today I received this BENQ and its trash, it is only a little bit more better with motion blur, but overall its so bad and so old.

I have right now VG279QM and happy with it in CS GO(it was the first goal why I bought it). Benq XL2540 I had as the first 240hz panel two years ago, input lag was not playable for me in CS GO, also I see cross-hatchning effect with XL2540. It is the first generation of TN 240hz, so don't recommend. If you want TN 240hz it's better to go for new Benq 2546S, but I still haven't found information about input lag and it can be slower in this case than Vg279QM.

All 240hz panels which I had were with some issues: input lag, cross-hatching, strange colors and etc. Main for me it's became how I can play with it in CS GO, and with Vg279QM aim can be on very high level and you can play with confidence(I connect it with very low input lag), but I think there are no ideal 240hz panels at the current time, all of them have some issues.

Yea, you right, I have VG259QM actually, but as I know it is same fast panel with same input lag, but the screen is more sharper, that is why I have choosen it.
The only close monitor to asus is MSI MAG251RX, it is even a faster, avg 3,1 response time, but compare to 3,6ms you dont see difference, but I believe it doesnt have ELMB like asus.
Asus Ftw :D

Forii, I think all current 240hz IPS panels has the same matrix from AU Optronics, difference only with company features like ELMB, ULMB and etc., input lag should be close to each other, but all of them definitely better than any from first generation of TN 240hz.

Yep, I would better choose between MSI MAG251RX and VG259QM, but satisfied with VG279QM(probably VG279QM has better colors than VG259QM)

Hello,

I am new and just purchased a VG259QM upon different readings on this forum and other reviews but... of the 27' VG279QM. My problem is: I can't find any complete review of the VG259QM by itself to compare performance with the 27'.

I am currently happy with my unit but it feels like the real specs are hidden as long as I don't find a full review like for the VG279QM and I find 24.5' pleasant but if pre-/post- calibration as well as 80%, response time and input lag are worse I might (or not, trully we are only spoiled with the technology push nowadays) return my unit and get the 27'.

btw my firmware version is MCM105 ( I don't know if it plays a role anyhow), I would be thankfull if you could point me towards a respectable review of this monitor version of the QM's.
