I don't know that I really care about 280 vs 240hz refresh rate when it's like a 0.7ms difference in time between updates... "Fastest" doesn't mean much if the motion clarity is crap. How would you say it compares to the AW2518H for the scrolling motion blur test where you try to read the text on the map?

Im curious to know that myself too, if 280hz is the fastest but the response time or motion clarity isnt as good as other 240hz monitor.

and @jnashville since you were mentioning about colours, is there a big difference 6 bit + FRC vs 8 bit + FRC?

Would you say that the asus 280hz is the best overall option for games like csgo/ overwatch/ valorant out of all the monitors you have tried? I only care for better colors and the higher refresh rate. I am upgrading from the benq xl2540 and just want to make sure the input lag is similar or better and if the image quality is much improved.

The 280hz asus is the fastest monitor in the world.

280hz refresh is stl 280hz refresh. G2g average doesn't really matter at 240hz and above

To summarize this topic
At 240hz and below, the msi mag251rx is faster. From 241hz and above, the asus is faster( its even faster than any TN).

Waiting for people to get the Acer Predator XB253QGXbmiiprzx (24", 240hz, IPS, 1ms) to compete with this Asus and MSI IPS panels. Unfortunately it's not available in my country so I cannot test it, but if it beats the colors of the 240/280hz asus and have the same response time and input lag or even better, that's the monitor to go for a FPS player.
I'm unlucky, the Asus 24" IPS panel (not 27'', can't stand pixels in 1080p) and this Acer is not available so I can't test it.

dont bother.

The 240hZ predator and nitro has the same exact ahva panel and its midle overdrive is about 4.4ms. Extreme OD gives wayyy oo much overshoot.

The predator and nitro are among the low end 240hz ips panels. Its tuning is really bad

Variable overdrive( is useless if tue fps exceed 240hz

The nitro is an TN panel, and according to the review of tftcentral, is one of the best TN panels (https://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/ac ... xf252q.htm)
I don't use OD much since I play CSGO and Valorant, so I don't really care about the OD on the predator, but the tuning might be an hindrance.
Now I guess I will wait for the Asus to be available again.

acer nitro xv273 x is a 240hz IPS monitor. I think you confused it with its TN cousin the 272

the acer nitro and the acer predator came out the same exact time(nov. 2019) and has the same exact AHVA AU optronics panel.

They have slightly different overdrive tuning(the nitro has around 5-6) and the predator only has 3(off, normal and extreme). The predator's "extreme" overdrive is virtually useless which limits the g2g average to 4.5-4.6ms.

Variable overdrive for the real g-sync predator xb273 x doesn't matter since 4.4 g2g is wayyy too far to catch up to the 3ms g2g Alienware and MSI.

also, g-sync is useless at 240hz monitors(unless you intend to play games below the 240hz max refresh.. if the FPS exceed 240hz, g-sync should always be turned off. The added input lag isn't worth it and u won't benefit from the reduced input lag if the FPS exceed 240hz.

these nitro and predator series really botched their overdrive tuning. Also, i think they u se a different AHVA since the monitor isn't even fast enough to accomodate 240hz. TFT claims it only has a 70% refresh rate compliance at 240hz max refresh compared to the 95-100% compliance rate of the Asus, Alienware, and MSI IPS monitors.
