Coming soon, the best(based off my tests) and fastest 1440p IPS monitors (that doesnt' cost $2000). unfortunately the asus tuf VG27AQ didn't make the cut.

LG 27GL8500-b (144hz 1440p IPS monitor) (133% SRGB 98% DCI-p3)
Viewsonic Elite XG270QG (165hz 1440p IPS monitor) (133% SRGB 98% DCI-P3)
Asus ROG Strix XG279Q (170hz 1440p IPS monitor) (125% SRGB 95% DCI-p3)

vs

MSI MAG251RX (240hz 1080p IPS monitor) (133% SRGB 98% DCI-P3) (lottery panel)

can these 1440p REAL wide gamut IPS monitors be better than the MSI MAG251rx?(the overall best 240hz IPS monitor based off of my tests and my observations)

Thanks for that! I'm considering going with LG 27GL8500-b for now... How are the blacks? I do some video editing and deal with a lot of text so the colors & higher resolution is important.
the blacks are just as good as the Viewsonic nano. They have the same exact Nano panel. Look at the video i posted comparing my 240hz MSi to the viewsonic nano. The blacks you see there should be the same as the blacks you see on the LG. (that's presuming there isn't any monitor variance). Itw as around 800:1 i believe which doesnt' matter that much if you increase the saturation and playing on a semi-lit room.

i ranked the LG as the #1 most well rounded. As in, if you are a content creator but want fast response times with vibrant colors, while having the option to play consoles(hdmi-vrr), LG is an excellent choice. You can buy the LG today and not have to worry about fast response times for gaming, or having srgb mode for content creating, or playign the ps5/series x(thanks to HDMI-VRR) for consoles while still having 98% DCI-P3 and 133% SRGB which in my opinion is the #1 reason why it's the overall best. video games just look beautiful thanks to the nano wide gamut. (not so much for watching movies since humans look red but when it comes to pictures and videogames, the vibrant colors are beautiful to look at.

SRGB mode--->the LG 27gl850-b is a great choice because its SRGB mode is very good and is viable for content creating(it's just as good as the lg 27gl83a at 99% srgb). The nano viewsonic doesn't have srgb mode despite being a wide gamut monitor. I ultimately chose the viewsonic over the LG but not having SRGB to clamp the gamut sucks and I don't know if the colors are accurate unless i purchased a color accuracy tool. I'm not a content creator so that's another reason why i chose the viewsonic.

2. it's still very fast at 4.7ms g2g, that may not sound a lot but if you compare it to the other ips monitors, it's literally in the 99th percentile of fast response times. only the viewsonic and $2000 38" LG is faster at 1440p(PS, the lenovo legion which my cousin has is slower than the LG).

one word though, it doesn't have the saturation change option on the monitor, but you can adjust the saturation levels on nvidia control panel and it's very vibrant. The downside is, if you play a console game that doesn't have a saturation tool to increase it, it's really not taking advantage of the wide gamut. For exapmle, i played smash ultimate with the LG 27gl850-b and i wasnt' able to adjust the saturation so i was stuck with srgb mode in smash ultimate. I hope the xbox series x and ps5 has a saturation option to increase it whenever you want.

another upside is HDMI-VRR which the LG has but the nano viewsonic doesn't. if you play the ps5 or series x, hdmi-vrr works up to 100hz on native resolution. That's more than enough because most AAA ps5 titles probably won't break 60hz fps anyway. If you lower the resolution down to 1080p, HDMI-VRR works at 120hz. If you turn off adaptive sync(which i recommend most ppl do because of input lag), then 120hz can be played at native resolution

in my opinion, Nano 27" LG is still the best and it hasn't changed from 2019 where it reigned as the best IPS monitor on most ppl's rankings. Its' just not the fastest anymore, but it's still the best overall. If you can only afford 1 monitor, the LG has it all(SRGB mode+fast response times+good for console gaming since HDMI VRR). if the nano viewsonic had a way to clamp the gamut and had HDMI-VRR for consoles, then i would pick the viewsonic over the LG. One weakness is that it doesn't have backlight strobing.

I was very confused why a 99% SRGB monitor like the MSI MAG251rx or the Asus VG279qm/VG259qm was just as vibrant as my 133% srgb 98% dci-p3 nano monitor. Here's your answer

https://www.asus.com/Monitors/TUF-GAMING-VG279QM/

Image

it says 95% dci-p3, that is only 3% less than 98% dci-p3. The Asus vg279qm/vg259qm has the same AU optronics panel as the msi mag251rx which explains why my MSI has a ridiculous oversaturation level of 133% 98% dci-p3. my MSI was just as vibrant as my viewsonic nano panel, side by side and based off of that link, claiming 95% dci-p3, it probably is, despite being a 99% srgb monitor.

here's the factory

so to anyone who has an EARLY version of the vg279qm/vg259qm or msi mag251rx, your panel will have oversaturation which in my opinion is a good thing because it increases color vibrance. Nowadays though, the newer versions are around 108% srgb or below which isn't as vibrant.

my guess is, it was supposed to be a wide gamut panel, but because of costs of backlight, they changed it to srgb. hence why some panels are more oversaturated than others. I won the lottery by having the most saturated MSI MAG251rx. If someone offered me $1000 or even $1500 for it, i would refuse.

Again thanks a lot! Watching movies people look red, you say? I'm guessing that's just a setting that can be adjusted. Also I use AMD since I'm a Linux user, so I'm guessing FreeSync will be enough to get the most out of the LG - since FreeSync is listed on the LG website.

UPDATE

Just found out the MSI MAG251rx is capable of having 12 bit color depth signal via HDMI @ 120hz. most other 240hz monitors are stuck at 8 bit. The best just keeps getting better.

Nice reviews! :), Just out of curiousity will you be testing VG259QM in the future? even though VG279QM is the 27inch with the similiar overdrive, is still a different panel overall, response time and overshoot/undershoot could vary (Correct me if im wrong)
Still waiting patiently till someone review VG259QM before purchasing while waiting more news on the 360hz Dell at the same time.
Anyways nice reviews, and stay safe :)

...
There is noticeable difference?

Also, getting a MSI MAG251rx now may have a different panel then? (= worse colours, worse response time, etc...?)

On bluetooth, the input lag on the ps4 controller drops from 10ms(wired) to 2ms(bluetooth). Dont ask me, that is how sony designed it.

Problem with bluetooth is if there is interference, it can fluctuate from 2 ms to 25 ms
I play with PS4 controller on PC as well. I over clocked my wired PS4 controller to lower input lag. Here is the video I used.

Yeah I couldn’t believe there would be more lag wired and couldn’t believe the difference after I did it.

RIP my VG259QM, it was nice while I had it. Just now noticed a dead blue subpixel on it, and unfortunately it is in the bottom middle of the screen, in a very visible location. Asus won't RMA it, but the place I ordered it from has really good customer support, so I will get a full refund regardless.
