I think I will send the VG259QM back, in the 6 days that I have been using it I keep getting eye strain.
I'm curious if you've been sticking to a same setting, or using many different settings (ELMB-SYNC ON/OFF, different Hz, different OD).

I know people get vision discomfort from even minor overdrive adjustments, while others couldn't care less. Sensitivity to the fog of faint artifacts hugely varies between humans, as they're often dissonances relative to real life (since motion in real life doesn't generate even a 2% trailing fog behind motion).

There are also many causes of eyestrain, including brightness, contrast, strobing, artifacts, ghosting, etc, and different people get bothered by different things (consciously and subconsciously).

Thanks Chief, I really appreciate!

Only the first day I tried the ELMB and sync funtion only to see if it works.
As a cs:go player I don't use any sync, my settings for the next days were indeed the same;
framecap in-game at 300fps, monitor at 240hz, 60 OD, brightness 12, contrast 76, vividpixel 25,
shadow boost off.
For desktop use I've got the blue light filter at level 3.
I still got enough day's for returning so decided to give it some more time maybe I get used to it.
Also made a appointment with my optometrist to see if my glasses are still ok.

Max_hz, what was your previous monitor before VG259QM?

VG259Q but it wasn't fast enough so I returned it very quickly, I cannot remember if I got eye strain of that one so I think not.

VG279QM came and I have yet another monitor from the same lineup with a dead pixel, but this time it's not in such a terrible spot on the monitor. I'll have to think if I'm going to return this or not.

asus HAS 280hz and it's not 2-3ms, it's only a 0.4-0.6 ms advantage for the Acer clones. The acer clones doesn't have (if anything) processing delay) which is a good trait for XB3 monitors.

-1ms response time isn't the selling piont of the asus, it's the MPRT and +40hz frame advantage you get from elmb-sync or overclocking it to 280hz instead of 240hz.

predator/nitro are good monitors nonthteless, but in my opinion not as good as the big 3 that i mentioned (MSI, Alienware, Asus).

Acer predator xb253q Gx (normal OD at 240hz) and ASus TUF VG259qm (60 OD @240hz)

MSI MAG251rx (fastest OD at 240hz)

You do realize that ELMB Sync is completely useless because it uses the Devils horn strobe implementation right? It legit only works for refresh rates over 200Hz.

280HZ is a nice feature but completely useless for AAA titles. The MPRT of the Acer and ASUS are pretty much identical IMO. The MSI does show a clear advantage however.

Once you realize that, the ASUS only advantage over the Acer is that strobing is available at more refresh rates. But as you very well know, that shouldn't detract it from being in the top 3 for gaming. No processing delay is huge.

Personally, I am quite sensitive to input lag so believe me that 0.4-0.6ms is very noticeable.

At a Lan event, the difference in input lag will be much more noticeable than a slightly better MPRT time imo the difference isn't enough to be bothersome especially when strobing.
Erm people buy high refresh monitors at 240hz because they play competitive titles like csgo, overwatch. Why will u buy a 240hz monitor and play AAA titles to begin with? AAA titles u should get a 1440p 165hz ips monitor.

That sucks, is that pixel visible on all colors? at least you have now the chance to compare both sizes curious which one
you like the most.
I think I will keep my monitor after all, the eye strain I got probably comes from my glasses.

The pixel is completely dead. It's not just one subpixel, it's an entire pixel with all of the colours dead.

I bought a VG259QM for 2449 RMB ($344) as part of the 6/18 sale. I mean, it's not 6/18 yet, but I had my gf talk to the seller and get a "price match guarantee" that if he dropped the price lower later he'll give us the difference. I split it half and half with the gf, my point being she gets it when she works from home

Why would you not want to return monitors with dead pixels until you get a monitor that has no defects? Is it that you are eager to use a new monitor or some other reason?
