Amazon has just delivered me an XB253Q, I already have an XB252Q.

I've played a few games and checked it out for a few hours and it all seems good, no dead pixels or defects and the bleed is not bad at all.

But I've just noticed the ghosting while scrolling text is awful!
you were probably so used to the inverse ghosting from the xb252q provided to the poitn where you thought it was "part of the game"

My cousin has the 252q TN, and i didn't like all the unwanted LCD artifacts it had. Not to mention the pixel inversion artifacts that i easily see.

if you want better motion clarity with the least unwanted LCD artifacts, get the vg259qm. It's in my opinion the monitor with the overall best motion clarity(strobing on and off)
I actually sent mine back to Acer and got a brand new panel fitted because of a pixel problem, never noticed anything since though.

I randomly got a line of pixels appear from the top of the screen to the bottom. Also when I went on the pixel inversion test screen on lagom.nl it made lines of pixels stick all over the screen.

@RLCSContender

Hey,
Can we have your NVCP settings, aswell as VQ259QM settings please ? :)

Currently
240hz capped at 237 on RTSS - OD 60 - with VSync ON NVCP, Gsync OFF
AdapSync OFF, ELMB OFF, Racing MODE 97-99-95 ?

Is there way better settings for Rocket League only ? (1800+ elo)
Not sure that I have the best settings rn.

Why are you playing on a 240hz gsync monitor with Vsync?

240hz no sync you aren't going to see any tearing, if you want to sync for more smoothness and clarity, using Gsync with vsync is much lower lag... Thats what its for.

Thanks for your answer.

I saw it there : viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7260&start=20
And as I said, I'm not sure that this is the best settings for this monitor (especially for RL since it takes 80% of my gaming time).

Everywhere people say everything and its opposite so that's why I created an account to ask.

Well its a 280hz monitor so run it at 280hz.

Try it with no sync on at all and see what you think, that will be lowest lag. Otherwise try it with Gsync on with or without Vsync on alongside it.

nah it's not smooth on 280Hz compared to 240Hz for me (more tearing)

1. Are you comparing apples versus apples? Strobing ON=ON, versus OFF=OFF?
Strobing amplifies visibility of tearing on all monitors.

2. Also, your framerate can amplify visibility of tearing if "fps NEAR Hz"
281fps@240Hz has less visible tearing than 281fps@280Hz
241fps@280Hz has less visible tearing than 241fps@240Hz.

Incorrect capping technique.
"3fps below" is best for VRR/G-SYNC/FreeSync.

The TL;DR Capping Differentials FAQ
VRR = Use ~3-5fps below
Low-Lag VSYNC = Use ~0.01fps below
RTSS Scanline Sync = Self capping, remove all other caps
VSYNC OFF = Do not cap near Hz

MAG251RX ($479) or AW2521HF ($412)?
Hey guys, I'm too stupid to decide myself, could you help me please?
-my average framerate is 60-120 fps, not going to keep it 240+ (don't want 144 hz version because they all have SPEAKERS=dust collector, and I need only a true 8-bit panel so 24" 144hz IPS 1080p is not an option too)
-don't care about a stand because I have a monitor arm
-care about color quality to enjoy movies
-not hardcore gamer but care about response time to enjoy smoothness in computer games
-VERY SENSIBLE to input lag (I hate v-sync) means I'm not going to use freesync

Hello, my profil is similar to yours and I just ordered the MAG251RX for 399€ (477US$). I read a lot of articles and those are 2 very good monitors, the Alienware has better build quality but performances overall are better for the MSI. I'll have my monitor in few days, actually having a TN XL2420Z 144hz, I'll come back to give my opinion about it !
