I currently have a Asus VH238H and I like it but I want to upgrade to a dual monitor setup.
Currently I would like a VG248QE since it is cheap ($250) but I dont like how the Gysnc kit gets rid of the HDMI so I think I will pass on it. The XL2420Z looks like a decent deal for $360 on Amazon (hopefully it's revision 2) but I was curious what the price point would be on the Gsync BenQ coming out and if it would be worth waiting?
I currently play games like BF4, Titanfall, Dark Souls 2, ESO, Skyrim, ACIV
Thanks
(Is the XL2420Z that big of an upgrade to warrant the extra money over the VG248QE?)

Hello,
If you are considering LightBoost vs BENQ Blur Reduction, consider that BENQ Blur Reduction is overall better than LightBoost. The XL2411Z is the cheaper cousin of XL2420Z, and you can get it off BENQ's online store with the GAMER$20 coupon for only $299 -- just a few dollars more than the VG248QE. Both monitors are found at http://www.blurbusters.com/faq/120hz-monitors
Waiting for GSYNC monitors with full features, is another idea too, though they will take time to arrive. The ETA's are being pushed out somewhat.

While we're at it... have you heard about anything higher than 144hz coming out in the foreseeable future?
Are we doing 180hz, 200hz or even 240hz anytime soon? (And obviously, I mean a real 240hz)

I think it will happen within 2 years, especially when DisplayPort 2.0 becomes more widespread, and 240Hz-capable panels start filtering down to the computer monitor market, from the HDTV market (which currently now has 240Hz+ panels available for interpolation).ericl wrote:While we're at it... have you heard about anything higher than 144hz coming out in the foreseeable future?

Blur Busters looks forward to seeing this happen. 240Hz would begin to approach low-persistence territory without using strobing (1/240sec sample & hold = 4.1ms persistence without strobing). Obviously, it would require far more GPU power to maintain 240fps @ 240Hz, but that is doable with a few-year-old games like Source Engine games.

Those are games are limited at 60fps (Skyrim can go higher but it breaks things, and Titanfall will be patched in the future, but for now...). The BenQ Z V2 monitors' strobing mode works at 60Hz. If you want to play at 60Hz without motion blur, that's your only option for now, unless you count playing with 3D Vision 2, which counts as 60Hz/fps even if the monitor is working at 120Hz. That's a way to trick those games.SupremeLegacy wrote: I currently play games like BF4, Titanfall, Dark Souls 2, ESO, Skyrim, ACIV
For example, I'm playing RAGE, wich is limited to 60fps, and it uses OpenGL, so 3D doesn't work. It looks great without motion blur. If you don't mind 60Hz strobing, of course. For me, it's only annoying at desktop.
