Just pulled the trigger on the XG270!

Post by Ryno24 » 21 May 2020, 18:22

Hello this is my first post. Been reading this forum all week trying to make the right decision on a new 240hz monitor. I have a cheap 27" 144hz Sceptre curved VA panel monitor now and wanted to jump up to 240hz. Thought long and hard about a TN panel because I want a competitive edge playing Apex but not sure I could deal with the colors of a TN. Might of gone with RLCScontender's recommendation of the mag25rx but wanted to stay with 27" and its not available at the moment.

How much of a difference should I expect coming from the monitor I have to the new XG270?

Don't worry Chief I used your link to purchase!

Got it and set it up to Battle Royal mode and have it on faster in response time OD but I'm getting a weird slight stutter, please help!

1 -- Do you have FreeSync ON/OFF? (G-SYNC Compatible) And are you using VSYNC ON or VSYNC OFF?

2 -- Also, if you are using both monitors at the same time (multimonitor) -- 144Hz and 240Hz at the same time -- make sure your 240Hz is primary and you're using full-screen exclusive (not borderless). The refresh rate interference issue is a long-known Windows limitation for windowed apps.

Thanks for replying Chief!

After I posted this last night I turned G-SYNC compatible on and it got rid of the stutter and felt better all around. I'm not sure if VSync is on or off.
I'm just using XG270 by itself.

Excellent. Yes, that is what G-SYNC and FreeSync is for, it helps reduces stutter from frame rates mismatching refreshrate.

Also, if you use a very scrolling-intensive game, test 120Hz + PureXP + VSYNC ON + NVIDIA Ultra Low Latency

Does VSYNC = adaptive sync? All I've seen adaptive sync, if not where is VSYNC located?

No, it is not the same thing.

VSYNC also stands for Vertical Sync, or also "VSYNC ON".

Sometimes it is labelled "Vertical Sync" at the left column and you have to choose "Enabled" or "ON" or "Active" in the right column.
