Can anyone in here compare the MAG251RX directly vs the XG2431?

I did the research from the available reviews and to me this seems to be the end result:

Parameter: MAG251RX / XG2431
Price (EU): 290€ / 370€
Size: 24.5" / 23.8"
Contrast: 1200 / 800
Brightness: 435 / 340
Input Lag: Both very similar
Response time: Both very similar
Color volume and accuracy calibrated: Both very similar
Strobing: Both very similar (MAG251RX probably brighter, XG2431 probably a tiny bit better tuneable)

So going from these parameters it seems like the winner would be the MAG251RX.
Now there is a noticeably difference in OSD / configurability.
The MAG251RX has a great OSD and additionally a software that lets you adjust all OSD settings within the OS (unfortunately not Linux) on the fly. On the other hand, the XG2431 are the PureXP tool which gives way more configuration choices regarding strobing / overdrive.

I am probably lacking the tools to take the full advantage of the PureXP tool.
Also from the reviews I have seen it seems like the final outcome will still be very similar.

Could anyone provide some input on my summary or maybe even a direct comparison?

Thanks in advance!

It is awesome!

I am coming from a BenQ XL240T 144Hz TN (OC 280Hz) panel.

Smoothness:
The MAG251RX is smoother and better in the UFO test, even without strobing.
With strobing the MAG251RX is a beast.

Brightness:
It is also brighter than my XL240T (I measured ~450cd).
With strobing the brightness is comparable to the max brightness of the XL240T.
That means it is bright enough for me to play with strobing even during the day and without sunshades.

Colors:
I can get the MAG251RX to use 12bit color depth at 144Hz (e.g. during office usage).
Otherwise it is 240Hz 10bit color depth.
In both modes the colors are way better than the XL240T ofcourse (TN vs IPS).
I have both calibrated with i1Display Pro calibrator and I am very very happy with how the MAG251RX looks like.

My setup:
For office usage:
XL240T @144Hz via DP to TB4 docking station to USB4 laptop port
MAG251RX @144Hz 10bit color depth via HDMI to HDMI laptop port

For gaming usage:
XL240T @60Hz via HDMI to eGPU
MAG251RX @240Hz 10bit color depth via DP to eGPU
eGPU to USB4 laptop port
Docking station to USB 3.2 laptop port

MAG251RX Settings:
Brightness: 100
Contrast: 70
Sharpness: 2
Response Time: Fast (according to this forum its the best setting?)
Adaptive Sync / Anti Motion Blur: Depending on usage (Office = Adaptive Sync, Gaming = Anti Motion Blur)

Question:
How to make firmware updates? I am on FW 0.21 and the gaming intelligence software doesn't have a "firmware update" button?

Hi, just received my MAG251RX today.

I have it hooked up to my laptop via HDMI. Is this perhaps the limiting factor to why I cannot set the monitor to 10 bit color depth?

I've been trying all evening with the tutorials provided in this thread, but have unfortunately come up with no solutions.

Help would be much appreciated!

Hi!

Would you mind elaborating on your setup?

I also have a laptop and unfortunately the only socket I do have available is HDMI 2.0, which does not have sufficient bandwidth for 1080p 10bit 240hz.

Hi there,

HDMI does not seem capable enough for 240Hz + 10bit color.
That is why I am using it at 144Hz + 10bit via HDMI for office usage and 240Hz + 10bit via DP for gaming usage.
More than 144Hz is a waste of energy/resources for office usage in my opinion anyway.

Thanks for the reply.

I am also having trouble getting the 1920 resolution to be set on native. Currently it appears in the new custom bracket as "progressive". Do you maybe have any suggestions on this?
