what cable should i use for this monitor? reading the monitor specs, it supports DP1.2 and HDMI2.0. should i be using HDMI2.0 cable since it's newer and supports better technology? would using a DP1.4 cable help or is it limited to DP1.2 specs?

I personally would always use the absolute best newest overkill cables possible since they are so cheap now-a-days. Of course you will technically still be limited to only what the monitor ports can support, BUT if your trying to put 10 gallons on gas in a 10 gallon container, it is harder and less safe from any accidental overspill than trying to put 10 gallons of gas in a 15 gallon container.

So IMO having cables that can do MORE that your ports/device specs is always a good thing. Why be on that exact limit of your bandwidth all the time ? PLUS, the higher spec'ed cables are made better too with better shielding, etc..(usually) and thats another reason I like them. They are just made with better, newer technology and for only a few bucks more. So go for it.

You must view specifications you graphics card look first screen and see specifications you monitors screen 2. This MSI have 1 DP 1.2a (17,28 Gbit/s) and 2xHDMI 2.0 (14,4 Gbit/s) both ports supports 240Hz I don't know if these speeds have any meaning in my graphics card I have a DP 1.4 connector and I'm wondering if I can use a 1.4 cable already ordered I'll see I'll let you know

Yes, I got same exact set up/ports/etc.. and I bought the best most reputable Vesa Certified 1.4 DP cable and I couldn't be happier with the results.

A German (so you know they're good !!) cable company. Called Kabel Direkt.
Found here: https://www.amazon.com/KabelDirekt-Disp ... st-20&th=1

Seriously the best cables I've used. I'm buying more from them for sure. Finally ! Feels so good to find well build products.

More info on them. German company, German design, BUT disclaimer - assembled in China.

Great packaging too. Just a feel good company IMO.

Yea me too. For now its been off. And I don't see any problems on any games so far. Loving it. (other than the occasional internet/server/network settings issue messing up my FPS on Fortnite.)

Been waiting for RLCS to answer me on all the detailed settings I asked a few posts ago. Once he answers that list, we will have all the dialed in settings.

I tell you now though, I went ahead and started playing, tweaking, experimenting and so far I like my settings.

thanks!

also i'm having a very strange interaction with my monitor and was wondering if it is a defect or if this is normal.
whenever i change the "Game Mode" from "User" to "FPS", my monitor loses all shades of green and displays it in shades of gray. although i change all the OSD settings to match the settings under "User", it still displays this way. i even tried resetting the monitor. is this normal?

This is indeed normal (unfortunately). As the same thing happens to me, and from reading I seen the same thing happens to RLCS and others too. Just don't use game mode. Ever. Use User mode only and dial in your settings and leave it. There is a Color Profile you can download in this thread if you read and find it, and then use that profile as your default color profile in Display Settings on your computer and that will handle all color settings.

The other type of settings are what some of us are waiting for RLCS to verify.
