Greetings, this is my first time posting here but a long time lurker.
So here is my situation.
I'm a competitive Fortnite player and am looking for the best monitor and have narrowed it down to these
based on the BB forum and many resources so here are my questions.
Viewsonic PureXP vs ELMB vs DyAc? Which is the best for best overall motion clarity on these models?
My issue with PureXP is how dim it does get compared to the others.
1ms vs 0.5ms on the Zowie. Will this make a difference to clarity and ghosting?
They are all vastly difference prices here in Canada
Asus is $550 Viewsonic $600 Zowie $800
I'm currently most swayed towards the Asus and am unsure if the Zowie is worth the extra $200.
I know most of my comp friends own Zowie TN panels however are the Asus and Viewsonic that much slower where it will ever be a disadvantage? Is the motion clarity of the Zowie at 0.5ms and DyAc significantly better than the other offerings?
I will pay the extra if it is truly worth it but I'm not so sure.
Would also prefer the color of an IPS if I can.
Thank you all.

If you want the color and angles of IPS then get that.

Have a look at this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7DBqyGf7JE
According to this review: https://www.aperturegrille.com/reviews/ASUSVG279QM/, the motion clarity is pretty much the same on 240hz & 280hz so don't worry about the fact that the Asus is not on 280hz.
This video directly shows the difference between XL2546S & VG259QM but this is pretty much the same as the 27 inch versions. Both have very impressive motion performance but for the absolute best motion go for XL2746S. Is it worth the extra $200 is really up to you and hard to say and up to you to judge using the video.
Judging from this post I would recommend the VG279QM but if you looked at the video above and think that the Benq's better motion is worth $200 then go for that.

Thank you for that side by side. The BenQ has a slight advantage in motion with DyAc on vs ELMB. Im curious if the poster would have gone with Overdrive 80 vs 100 how the results would differ.another_ash wrote: ↑09 Jul 2020, 03:31Have a look at this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7DBqyGf7JE

I do see the difference of the TN panel vs the IPS in this case but at 100 overdrive that is expected on the Asus. Thank you for the help.

The Asus bfi is only 196 nits which is trash compared to dyac at 400 nits. No comparison there, Zowie easily wins.another_ash wrote: ↑09 Jul 2020, 03:31Have a look at this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7DBqyGf7JE

120 - 200 nits is already a pretty standard brightness for reasonably lit office/room. Unless you sit under direct sunlight or use HDR, it's extremely unlikely you would really need to go above 200 nits unless your goal is to get eye strain.Dirty Scrubz wrote: ↑09 Jul 2020, 21:15The Asus bfi is only 196 nits which is trash compared to dyac at 400 nits. Of course some people may prefer having extreme brightness and don't get eye strain after lots of screen time so it's perfectly up to the consumer whether or not they think paying extra is worth it.

196 nit max brightness is next to useless for BFI. My former Asus monitor had it and it sucked in games, especially FPS games if you play competitively.another_ash wrote: ↑09 Jul 2020, 23:15120 - 200 nits is already a pretty standard brightness for reasonably lit office/room. Re: Viewsonic XG270 vs BenQ XL2746S vs Asus VG279QM
This is so true, high nits BFI can make eye strains really annoying, that's why i never go past 50% brightness on my VG259QM, there are many other ways to improve image quality without getting a headache such as using ELMB with ShadowBoost, tweaked contrast and increasing saturation.another_ash wrote: ↑09 Jul 2020, 23:15120 - 200 nits is already a pretty standard brightness for reasonably lit office/room. This! 200nits is plenty bright. AS someone who plays 8-10 hours daily I cannot stare at a super bright screen.axaro1 wrote: ↑10 Jul 2020, 05:07This is so true, high nits BFI can make eye strains really annoying, that's why i never go past 50% brightness on my VG259QM, there are many other ways to improve image quality without getting a headache such as using ELMB with ShadowBoost, tweaked contrast and increasing saturation.another_ash wrote: ↑09 Jul 2020, 23:15120 - 200 nits is already a pretty standard brightness for reasonably lit office/room. Re: Viewsonic XG270 vs BenQ XL2746S vs Asus VG279QM
196 nits is not nearly enough for competitive gaming because it darkens shadow areas and actually causes more eye strain. You aren’t watching a movie where you turn down the brightness to sub 200 nits.ORCA wrote: ↑10 Jul 2020, 12:37This! 200nits is plenty bright.
