FPS Higher than refresh rate = lag?

Post by Mr Magic Man » 20 Jul 2020, 13:58

Hello, to give some context I went all out on a battle station with 4 monitors. 2 of them is the Asus PG258Q and 2 off brand 60hz monitor, and I have a 9900k with a 2080ti. When playinf any games theres always a slight stutter every now and then, I read somewhere that if your FPS is lower than your refresh rate (in this case 240) there will be some stutter so I locked my game at 165. I then decided try something different and change the refresh rate to 144hz and set the game to 165, and the lag / screen tearing is the worst thing ever! I have tried Gsync on and off and trying various of combo of fast sync etc. Is this suppose to happen? Thanks in advance.

Try playing on 240hz with gsync on and vsync on in nvidia control panel preferrably (off in game) with a 237 fps cap and see if that feels better. This is the best setup for no screen tearing and minimal input lag.
