Best 24'' 240Hz TN with lowest input lag AND best image quality?

Post by purplew » 04 Aug 2020, 00:27

It is said that TN still has the edge in motion clarity over 240hz IPS panels, but I still would like good image quality.

What is the best 24'' (or 24.5'') 240hz TN monitor with the best combo of low input lag and good IQ?

Thank you very much.

Why not just get the best IPS instead? The downside is at 240Hz you usually choose between slight overshoot and not 100% frame rate compliance, but the difference is very small.

In reality you can't tell the difference between it and a very good TN, unless you're a professional gamer

Which monitor do you have? I was considering the Zowie xl2546s but it's OOS everywhere, so I turned to 240hz IPS options because why not, now considering MAG251RX vs VG259QM (don't want a 27 inch). Now it comes down to motion blur reduction, I don't know which one of these do it better. OD on MAG251RX seems much better than the Asus, but ELMB-SYNC seems better than whatever the MSI has? So don't really know which one to go with.

I have VG259QM. I actually don't mind setting the OD to 60. I can't see any extra smearing because if it's running at 280Hz I get less actual motion blur.

There's crosstalk on my panel at higher refresh rates when using ELMB sync, do I prefer reducing the refresh rate to 144Hz when using blacklight strobing. It has the clearest UFO on my panel that way.

I highly recommend you to try OD80 at 280hz, if you try this https://www.testufo.com/ghosting and set the speed to 1440pps you'll istantly notice that OD80 is 100% blur free with very very minor overshoot.

also consider the predator XB253QGX, it has one of the fastest input lag values on the market, lower than MSI Mag and Asus, also an excellent response time with zero overshoot, I'm using it between 200 and 270 fps and the image is really clear, no blur.
I am very satisfied, I was also watching MSI and Asus but for me the input lag is a fundamental parameter.
As colors they are all valid being IPS.
The only panel I would like to try is the Benq XL2546s when it comes back, just to see if with the Dyac + the image is even sharper, but already now I'm very satisfied.
In addition, the Benq input lag will still be seen, a value that apparently no one has measured, certainly the predator has a very low input lag value.

asus has similar performance to acer predator but only if it goes to 280hz, at 240hz the response time and input lag is higher than acer predator.

I just got this screen on amazon and confirm the exceptional performance, I have never had a TN screen so I would be very curious to try benq XL2546s but it is not available, otherwise I would have made a comparison between these 2 monitors.

Dude, I don't believe the acer 240 is faster than the 280Hz asus. Looks like fake and PR /advertisement predator.

@ IIISLIDEIII where did you get those charts?

According to these then the Acer Predator XB273Xbmiprzx, 27" is the fastest IPS on the market right now, is it true? can someone else confirm?
