Need help choosing for competetive gaming (XL2546 / XG2730 / MAG251RX)

Hello!

So I am into competetive gaming and want to buy a 240hz screen. I was kind of set on the BenQ Zowie XL2546 since most pros use this screen, but upon researching I get a bit uncertain. XL2546 is one of the oldest 240hz monitors and I know there will soon come a new one. Also the new IPS looks nice, but a bit worried about their perfomance compared to the XL2546 although I´ve read that IPS has improved a lot recently.

What would you consider to be the ultimate gaming screen, and why?

I want the smoothest experience (least ghosting / overshoot) with the lowest amount of repsonse time and input lag. Color accuracy is nice, but not a priority. I have mainly narrowed it down to these:

BenQ Zowie XL2546 / s
MSI Optix MAG251RX
Viewsonic XG2730

Bonus question I sometimes play warzone at 140 fps. Is there any huge drawbacks on playing with a 240hz monitor compared to a 144hz monitor when fps is lower?

Thanks everyone! :D

Imo MSI. After 2 days of reading reviews I'll go for it.

i have the mag251rx, there's a fair amount of crosstalk if you're truly looking for motionblur-free gaming it's not the best choice. but it does have good colors (i guess)

I got the MAG251RX and LG 27GN750 lately and prefer the LG for gaming, feels more responsive and clearer for me. Have the Alienware AW2521HF on the way next and will compare it to the LG. Acer ones seem the best or so people say so I would probably try those next.
Also heard good things about the 280hz Asus ones, but I also use the monitor for console gaming and fighting games and they have huge lag at 60hz, if you don't play anything that low you should probably look into it.

Hi Stevie, would love any comment on the AW2521 once you receive it, currently hesitating between this one and the Acer XB253QGX

Concerning ASUS 280 Hz monitors, as far as I know only VG279QM has very high input lag on fixed 60 Hz refresh rate, VG259QM doesn't have this problem. I'm waiting for RTINGS review for final confirmation, however.

Sure, should be getting it early September(Dell is slow) and it will be compared with the LG GN750, and the MSI MAG, nothing scientific of course.

Oh I figured both would be similar, guess I'll wait for the review on it, would be great if it didn't have that problem then I'd put it back on my list to try out.

Just to add, seems like Omen X 25 is the G-SYNC version and Omen X 25f is Free-Sync version of the same monitor. Thanks to that X 25f is much cheaper. Monitors with G-SYNC modules are always more expensive.

Hey man, got an update and bad news, sadly. According to brand-new review of VG259QM from RTINGS, very high input lag at fixed 60 Hz is also present in the smaller brother of VG279QM. From their test it even seems like the bigger variant is actually better in terms of response times and overshoot performance.
