Will this monitor be a good fit for the Xbox Series X? I would like to game at 120fps with adaptive sync and elmb activated?

Refresh rates bellow 100Hz have higher input lag than usual. The higher Hz you go from that point it gets better. So 120Hz only should be fine.

Thank you for your reply!

No problems with overscan or ghosting? I read something about overscan issues with elmb sync. I am also looking at VG27AQL1A and have the same questions about overscan and ghosting. Will it be better to buy a monitor without elmb sync if there are issues with overscan?

What gives less input lag 300fps and gsync off or 277fps with gsync on?

The higher the framerate the better input lag, fewer background processes the better, lower the gpu usage the better.
If u have 99% gpu usage at 300fps with g-sync off, than 277fps g-sync on with 90% usage would be much better.

Will there be an improved and noticabel difference when having Elmb Sync activated vs not activated at 120hz? The msrp should be approved, no?

VG25/279QM has exaggerated and locked overdrive when ELMB/ELMB-SYNC is enabled. The motion clarity is noticeably better but it is unpleasant to use due to extreme overshoot. So it is better to turn it off for refresh rates bellow ~200Hz.

you can imagine here that it looks worse than 144Hz row

So this technology could be useful at 120hz, but Asus implementation is flawed? Can they fix this with a software update?

This will not be fixed since VG25/279QM firmware can't be updated.
If you want perfect IPS motion blur reduction at 120Hz check out ViewSonic XG270 (viewtopic.php?p=47472#p47472) or wait a few months for a release of XG2431 which is expected to be even better.

Technically it should be possible with the USB service port, I think it's more whether Asus finds it important enough to upgrade the firmware in the end it will cost them extra money and that's not a good motivation for them. Maybe they haven't received enough complaints from users yet, which also makes a difference. Personally, I also have my doubts about whether they will ever make a firmware upgrade and make it available to users, hmm probably not.
