I find it odd they recommend 280/60, i cant play on 280/60 its so blurry i cant explain it, its like motion blur is on 24/7. I used 280/80 until you posted this thread and i can say playing the last 2 weeks on 280/120 is so much better, tried going back to 280/80 and i cant, the overshoot behind object when swiping from left to right on a bright background is annoying
i play valorant on these settings
280/120
adaptive sync off and elmb off
shadowboost 1
racing mode
80 contrast
60 brightness

If FPS and hz is @280hz is it better at OD 80? because of the pixel response time, even though the overshoot is more than OD 120?axaro1 wrote: ↑21 Aug 2020, 08:57I tested both OD80 and OD120 at 280hz, I think that OD80 is better at this refresh rate.jnashville wrote: ↑21 Aug 2020, 08:39I play csgo and can get frame rates higher than 280.
I am on 280hz..should I put OD to 120? I also do not turn on elmb at all. Currently on od80
if fps @240hz is it better at OD 120 or OD 80?
Both No Vsync No ELMB sync.
Re: The Official *Asus VG259QM* Owners Thread (+ Secret Overdrive)
I changed my mind on that, I've been running 280hz with OD120 for two weeks and it's definitely the best overdrive, if you use it in combination with Shadow Boost (Level 1 or 2) you can even mitigate some of the minor overshoot that you get.Blehhh wrote: ↑02 Sep 2020, 03:28If FPS and hz is @280hz is it better at OD 80? because of the pixel response time, even though the overshoot is more than OD 120?

According to Rtings pixel response time table of OD120 30 transitions out of 30 are inside the 3.6ms 280hz window (Rise/fall), with an average of 2.6ms response time.
Check out this Image:
By using Shadow Boost Level 1 or 2 you are actually getting rid of most of the 0 to 20 (darkest to dark) transition overshoot, I tested with UfoTest and 280hz OD120 with Shadow Boost Level 1 has been extremely good in terms of motion clarity and lack of artifacts.
At 240hz OD120 introduces a little bit more of overshoot compared to 280hz, which is slightly more difficult to mitigate with Shadow Boost (even tho it is muuuch lower than OD80), but I still believe that OD120 is better than OD60 at this refresh rate due to 100% of transitions inside the window.
Basically there is only one bad transition, 0 to 20, and it is 100% possible to mitigate it by shifting the darkest transition into a less dark transition with Shadow Boost.
8.6% of overshoot is very similar to the MAG251RX's with the Fastest preset with the difference that the number on the Asus is heavily inflated by that single bad transition.

I got the bigger brother VG279QM, should I be getting the same results with my monitor?

Would you still use OD120 at 144hz? or is 60 the best around that fps?axaro1 wrote: ↑02 Sep 2020, 03:55I changed my mind on that, I've been running 280hz with OD120 for two weeks and it's definitely the best overdrive, if you use it in combination with Shadow Boost (Level 1 or 2) you can even mitigate some of the minor overshoot that you get.Blehhh wrote: ↑02 Sep 2020, 03:28If FPS and hz is @280hz is it better at OD 80? because of the pixel response time, even though the overshoot is more than OD 120?

OD60 seems like the best overdrive at 144hz

Interesting thing about 144Hz on my sample: OD100 does less overshoot than OD80. Someone please check.
My bad English :0
Re: The Official *Asus VG259QM* Owners Thread (+ Secret Overdrive)
I can confirm it, OD100 does indeed have less overshoot than OD80 at 144hz, OD120 is slightly less overshoot than OD80 at this refresh rate but still more than OD100, OD60 is overshoot free.DukeDice929 wrote: ↑03 Sep 2020, 03:58Interesting thing about 144Hz on my sample: OD100 does less overshoot than OD80. Re: The Official *Asus VG259QM* Owners Thread (+ Secret Overdrive)
That does sound interesting, maybe at VRR 144-280 OD120 will be the best then? even if it has a bit of overshoot around 144?
Re: The Official *Asus VG259QM* Owners Thread (+ Secret Overdrive)
I'd say:
200-280 OD120
100-200 OD60
Sub 100 OD40
