All SmoothFrog stoplights show inverse ghosting at 240hz with OD120.

In case you still want to use Gsync then I'd say just stick to OD60 which is super consistent thorough the 100-280hz range (although not as clear as OD120 when approaching the maximum refresh rate).

As you said there are multiple pixelated artifacts when using it (Level 50 and higher are most likely just a bad use of convolution offsets/shiftings, just like sound clipping you can have sharpness clipping when you incorrectly apply convolution operations to increase sharpness, an example are dots on top of "i" being randomly detected as not being part of the letter and having a different color compared to the rest of the text)
Asus approach to sharpness by applying spatial filters has inconsistent corner detection, stock 240hz IPS panels look quite blurry out of the box and it looks like Asus wanted to compensate this issue but with mediocre results.

I use either Vividpixel 0 or 25 unless I play games like Tarkov/R6s where I use up to 50 since it can provide a small advantage if your priority is enemy visibility at the expenses of some artifacts.

So I play Valorant and was using 280hz 120od. I turned my monitor back to 240hz 120od and capped my fps in-game to 240, and it feels a lot better. Do you think Shadow Boost 3 is still best for 240hz 120od?

I play Valorant and have been using 280hz 120od Shadow Boost 3, but I noticed that my pc struggles to maintain 280fps in actual games. It hovers between 240-260fps. I switched to 240hz 120od, and it feels a lot smoother. Do you still recommend Shadow Boost 3 with 240hz 120od? Was thinking of just turning shadow boost off entirely.

Anyone try the 280hz Acer in comparison to this? It has the exact same model number as the 390hz one (XV252Q) but instead of the F digits after it, it starts with Z. But it looks basically the exact same as the 390hz monitor. Curious how it might stack up as I think it’s the only other 280hz monitor I know about.

The reasoning behind ShadowBoost 3 with OD120 at 280hz is to shift dark transition enough to reduce overshoot.

At 240hz with OD120 every single UFO shows overshoot regardless of the background so I assume that it won't make any difference + even if it did there is no response time table at 240hz to make a comparison or quantify any improvement.

The reason why it might feel better at 240hz is due to having +0.6ms [4.17-3.57] headroom to complete pixel transitions.

One update about firmwares. Just noticed the two panels I got yesterday are running MCM106. Figured I'd share.

On my VG259QM there is still noticeable overshoot in the darkest ufo image at OD120 plus shadow boost 2 at 280Hz. My firmware is MCM105 and other user said that it was working for him at that same firmware so I don't know what am I doing wrong or what.

After my first unit was replaced I got a 2nd one (which is using MCM105).

I just took a quick SmoothFrog test with OD120 at 280hz and Shadow Boost 2.
I don't see any overshoot (actually some minor ghosting).
