Hello all users of the VG259QM. I want to share a wonderful discovery regarding the overdrive behavior of this monitor. I was tinkering with custom refreshrates with CRU and I discovered something strange. The overdrive setting "100" does not function the same way at 235Hz than it does with 240Hz. At 235Hz the overdrive setting 100 gives me the best results I have personally been able to get from this monitor in terms of motion clarity, even better than the 280Hz 120 OD setting. So I suggest you all try this out, I will be using 235Hz OD100 from now on.

I don't know if this is a bug or what that the OD100 is completely unusable at 240Hz but the perfect setting at 235Hz.

In the CRU application I just use manual timing and change the refreshrate to 235Hz and that's all.

Take care.
I tried it, looks good so far. Not sure about the response time tho. Will play with it for a few days.

In hindsight the 280Hz OD120 is still a very good but nevertheless this was something I thought was nice to share and an option to consider as the 235Hz OD100 has no noticeable overshoot with very little ghosting. As for your PM I have tried OD100 with higher refreshrates than 235Hz but they all give massive overshoot(I don't know how to response to PMs so I answered here).

Wow I've tested it and almost all overshoot is gone on 235hz O.o This is so strange...

The 2nd pursuit is more accurately tracked, but even the imperfect 280Hz pursuit still shows blatant overdrive!

Some monitors exhibit this behavior, loading a different overdrive gain for a different mode.

What I would love to see is more monitor manufacturers support 100+ level overdrive adjustments via a slider, so we have more control over fixing overdrive artifacts at a finer granularity.

I will stick to 235Hz OD100.

I play the game Victor Vran and on 280Hz OD120 the second world of the mötörhead dlc which is an light orange canyon area, the colors look whiteish when I move but on 235Hz OD100 the canyon's colors stay as they should be, light orange not whiteish orange with still having less blurring than on OD60 in the normal refreshrates and no noticeable overshoot. This is the best balance for me in terms of picture quality and response time, is the 235Hz OD100.

I just want to drop in again as I cannot stress enough how insanely good the performance is at 235Hz OD100, it is so much better than any other setting in terms of response time. I just switched the timing in cru from manual to exact and now I can quickly alt tab from games and adaptive sync seems to be working perfectly.

This seens to not work in VG279QM. Tried 234, 235 and 236hz with OD100 and it still cause massive overshoot :(

Maybe try 245? Or 225?

I'd sell the VG279QM and get a VG259QM. The VG259QM already has better response times than the 27" variant and with this discovery it is soo much better than the VG279QM.

Anyone else have issues with the monitor reverting and locking at 144 hz? Alt-tabbing back into MW 2019 seems to revert the monitor to 144hz sometimes, and I cannot change it back to 280hz until I run 'restart' or 'restart64' from CRU. I have tried using 'reset all' from CRU to see if it was something to do with the previous 144hz monitor I had, but that didn't seem to help. I have yet to try DDU. I've been wanting to do a fresh Windows install, so I might just go ahead with that.
