Hey guys, I'm playing R6S for the competitive, I get 280+ FPS constant, what better OD to use with 280Hz? thankful.
R6s is one of those games that massively benefit from strobing so I always recommend ELMB at 280hz with Adaptive Sync OFF (as long as you can constantly achieve 280+fps, which is not too difficult especially if you launch the game in Vulkan instead of DX11).
Always pair strobing with TAA OFF (and Vividpixel 25 or 50 + Shadow Boost lvl 2 or 3) to make enemy shapes sharper and easier to distinguish.

R6S is one of those games where even top players (such as Spoit to name one) play while strobing, this is because there are many game mechanics that perfectly suits strobing such as Quick Peeking, Recoil control with recoil induced shaking heavily mitigated, which helps you not lose track of the enemies when shooting for example with a high recoil high rpm weapon such as Twitch's F2.
Spatial awareness is also noticeably improved by strobing and this is very useful when you enter a room and an enemy head pops out in your FOV while you are moving or when an enemy appear behind a bullet hole in the wall, noticing these details can make difference.

If you are not a fan of strobing you have 3 alternatives:
- If you are very sensible to overshoot and not so sensible to ghosting go for OD60
- If you want the fastest response times at the expenses of some overshoot go for OD80
- If you want something in the middle, follow my OD120 guide, it's a good balance between OD60 and OD80 with overshoot being limited to a smaller percentage of transitions compared to OD80.

I normally have 500-600 fps in csgo, i currently have 280hz plus 120od on, nothing else. If i enable ELMB sync, do i need to cap fps?

Depending on if you're lag-priority or visuals-priority.

But sometimes they can interact with each other (raise display lag by 2ms, but reduce human lag by 10ms), as seen in this thread.

It all depends on how important strobing is to you, and if you use any gaming tactics that requires jitter-free & microstutter-free ELMB. Especially if you already have a 2000 Hz mouse (like a Razer Viper 8KHz set to 2000, 4000 or 8000Hz). Mouse microstutter is amplified by strobing.

I am interested in trying gsync on this monitor, tell me if this is the correct settings.

Gsync- on in control panel
Vertical sync- on in the control panel
Low latency- on

Set fps in game to 270-275 for 280hz.

My question is this monitor can do elmb at the same time with gsync? Do I have to change any settings when I do this or just set elmb sync on also?

- enable g-sync compatible in monitor OSD
- enable g-sync compatible in nvcp (for nvidia gpu)
- (use latency reduction tech only if your gpu load is stuck at 99-100% - otherwise it will increase input lag, so keep it below ∿95% by capping to proper framerate)
- use in-game frame rate limiters and cap a few frames below the set refresh rate, 275 would be fine for 280Hz
- no need to use any v-sync - depending on the game it can slightly increase or decrease input lag

To use ELMB and g-sync at the same time (if supported) just enable both options in monitor OSD.

Okay thank you for the information, so you only use low latency if your gpu bound? I have a 3070 and a 10700k so I’m assuming for csgo I would leave low latency off?

Yes, if you want to learn more about this stuff you can check battle(non)sense youtube channel.

Why would they want to hide the 120OD? I would love to turn it on, but isn't it dangerous? idk much about monitors and etc, but maybe it's killing the monitor way faster or something

OD 120 is less aggressive than fully available OD 100 (in-between 80 and 100, it should of been called OD 90). Also I believe 120 is used for ELMB and ELMB SYNC, so don't worry about it being dangerous.

Don't forget the overdrive settings between VG259QM and VG279QM are different (see rtings).
For me OD120 on the VG259QM is more like OD70 so between OD60 and OD80.
