I've got this problem with Gsync+Vsync, to preface on desktop my monitor reports 280hz. When in game and using borderless window I can see gsync is working from the indicator and in the OSD, in the OSD my Hz matches my framerate cap of 277fps.

The problem lay when I use fullscreen exclusive mode, while gsync is still functioning due to the indicator, and OSD, the monitor is reporting 240hz, and my ingame FPS is stuck at 239-240 with fluctuations. If I disable v-sync my FPS obeys the cap I set, but my monitor is still reporting 240hz.

While i'd have no problem running these games in borderless window, this behavior does not seem proper and I cannot seem to pinpoint the cause or if its normal behavior. Also features like DSR only work in F/S Exclusive, and games like league that run at 700+ fps benefit from the additional clarity it offers but the refresh rate cap bothers me more than a bit of pixellation on my champion, 280hz(or ~277hz b/c adaptive sync) is just a religious experience to my eyes.

Make sure your in-game refresh rate is set to 280Hz, same as desktop. Also set your game to fullscreen mode. You can disable v-sync both in-game or in nvcp, use in-game fps limiters instead.
If that doesn't work try playing with "full screen mode" and "windowed and full screen mode" settings in nvidia control panel.

OD 120 is less aggressive than fully available OD 100 (in-between 80 and 100, it should of been called OD 90). Also I believe 120 is used for ELMB and ELMB SYNC, so don't worry about it being dangerous.
All OD tested: download/file.php?id=1297
Alright then, how do I get it working?
I tried following that:

OD120 is achievable by entering the service menu (press the power button and hold menu (5-way), then press menu again and it will pop up on top left, there will be a small "F" for the service menu, click on it)
But it's not working :(

The power button is the button that turns on and off the monitor.
The menu button is the joystick or the button above the power button?
Idk what 5-way means..

Anyhelp, please!

The firmware used for this guide is MCM104, newer products are shipped with MCM105, there are reports of early batches running MCM103, none knows the actual difference between these 3 firmwares and not a single firmware has been publicly released by Asus as of 17/08/2020

It was interesting to see the values changing when setting different PreEmphasis and Voltage Swing levels, altough I don't see any practical benefit in using these two settings unless you are using a cheap or long Displayport cable

- 240hz 10bit trick
As stated in many reviews the VG259QM is natively an 8 bit panel but it can display 10 bit (8bit + FRC) at 240hz with a simple trick.
1)Open CRU
2a)f you are currently running your monitor at 240hz click on your Detailed Resolution and set the Timings to Automatic - LCD Reduced.
2b)If you are currently running your monitor at 280hz you have to click on Extension Blocks, click on the 239.XXX Detailed Resolution and set it to LCD Reduced.
You cannot run 10bit at 280hz but you can switch Windows refresh rate to 240hz (without the need to disable Overclocking in the OSD) to automatically switch from 280hz 8 bit to 240hz 10 bit.
3) Reboot or run restart/restart64 which are contained in the CRU pack.

Axaro1, where is this "CRU" option? For me to change the bit to 10

Can you modify PWM value in service menu or is it locked?
Im on MCM103 and its missing PWM, also some other settings are locked.

It's locked both on MCM104 and MCM105.

Hey guys, the search doesn't give me results, what's the panel name of your VG259QM? I just got a new unit of this monitor yesterday and I'm not sure if the panel is the same. Seems like this unit is a newer batch (Dec 2020, previously had all from Nov 2020 I think). The panel name on my unit is Qisda Q250HAA00. Is it the same?

Im on 27" MCM103 and service menu says Q270HAA00, tftcentral says M270HAN03.0
For 25" probably Q250HAA00 - M250HAN01.7 (from reddit post)
I don't know whats happening here but probably some asus naming policy.
