asus VG259QM

Post by ClowRRR » 29 Aug 2020, 14:41

I still haven't figured out how to make this monitor better, should i use overclock? 240 or 280hz? Over driver 60 or 80?
when i active overclock i see this message "Overcloking may cause screen flickering. To reduce such effects, disconnect the DP cable and use the monitor OSD to try again with a safer max reflesh rate."
Someone help me?

Game at 240hz, game at 280hz, what do you like more, try OD 60 try 80, notice any trails at 80? if so use 60, if you notice flickering at 280hz, go back to 240?
There's already at least 2 threads on this monitor, I'm sure it has useful info inside, also review sites test the OD settings and show what's good if you don't want to run the UFO yourself.

Whats the logic of overclocking to 280hz and capping at 234fps?

I mistyped, I meant 274 for 280hz and 234 for 240hz.

Actually if you lock at 234 with a 280hz monitor you still get less input lag than locking a 240hz monitor at 234

That's to be expected, since the latency of frame transmission from computer to monitor (and also, from monitor electronics to the panel) -- is often based on the display's max Hz. All frames are transmitted in 1/280sec, even at low frame rates, on a 280Hz monitor.

For those unaware, screens take time to refresh from top to bottom, as seen in high speed videos at www.blurbusters.com/scanout

Do you turn on vivid pixel at all? A click looks sharper.

No matter what I try the two TN panels on the sides I have (XL2540, XB252Q) still pop a bit more. Is it because this is an AU Optronics panel and it's just going to be washed out?

I had a couple of 1440p IPS' a few years ago and I remember the PQ looking way better than the TN I had next to them, I just didn't like the smearing.
