VG259QM issue

Post by EastEndBear » 03 Sep 2020, 15:08

Got my dual monitor setup sorted today. When I plug my second monitor into my PC my main monitor goes from 240hz down to 60hz unless I'm at 280hz, anyone else had this issue?

Any help would be appreciated.

Nvidia control panel acted weird and I had to use advanced display settings in windows to get the side monitors to 240hz, been fine since.

Make sure you're scrolling down to "PC" where resolution is in Nvidia Control panel. BTW, have either of you tested OC 280hz, OD 120hz with GSync off, Vsync Off, VRR on the display off? Firmware on mine is 105.

I use a AMD gpu so I'll have to play around with those settings instead. Yes that's the settings I use for Overwatch.

I do notice tearing at 240hz with no VRR but somehow it's much less noticeable at 280hz, I'd say that VRR at 280hz is optional.

OD120 280hz is the way to go, FPS limit set to 300 for Overwatch (The engine could be capped at 400 with a tweak but it's not worth having high gpu usage spikes IMO), for Rainbow Six I have to manually tweak GameSettings.ini to force 280hz since it still doesn't support more than 240hz.
For those of you interested on how to do it just set RefreshRate=280.000000 and open the properties of this file to set it to "Read Only", I set FPSLimit=290 since my card hits 95% at 340fps and I want to prevent my card from reaching high gpu usage and increase input lag.

The issue I am having with 280hz is it makes me run games full screen only. If I go borderless it drops to 60hz or some lower refresh rate.

I can get Windows to run 280hz on the VG259QM, 240hz to side monitor, and 240hz duplicated to an Avermedia 4k capture card. I am guessing it is something related to the capture card being a different refresh rate than the VG. 240hz on everything runs normal.
