How's the backlight bleed on you guy's monitors? Here's mine on the left compared to a five years old Asus MG279Q 144Hz IPS on the right and thought the PG259QN is pretty fu**ed. Wondering if this is common with these in which case I won't even try and get a better one. IPS glow is also pretty bad but love the monitor otherwise

I have a PG259QN and it’s not as bad as that photo, even at overexpose.

There’s some glow as is usual for IPS but it’s more symmetric/subtle.

I’d like to hear from others’ experiences, on average though, before deciding if it’s abnormal in this camera long-exposure test, but it does look edge of manufacturer permitted glow. Higher Hz sometimes are more glow-sensitive with the LCDs slightly more pressure sensitive at the edges, though ideally it should be better. Comments are welcome from other PG259QN owners.

Thanks for answering! The more harsh edges really draw in the eye when playing darker scenes and probably wouldn't be at all as bad if the glow was a little more subtle or even. Also would still really like to hear from others on how theirs are.

I put in a ticket for Asus support and they got back to me saying mine was defective and asked to return to seller. Returned it and ordered after another one. Hope the new one's good because I really loved the monitor overall.

Not sure if thats possible, but is there a way to change the crosshair? The available colors green and turquoise are not pretty good and its annoying since I dont want to download a 3rd party program to get more crosshair colors :/

Hello! Can I use a 1.2 Displayport cable for this monitor even if there is a 1.4 displayport? I bought this monitor but the cable was not provided. Thx!

Yesterday i got the XL2546K: The colors and textures look great: Especially in PUBG and MW. U have a big advantage in spotting enemy's.

But I also play Quake Live. There's a huge difference in the amount of frags I can get with my XG2402 and the XL2546K. On the XL2546K I am just a regular player. Above average at best.

On the XL2546K I had a couple times where my plasma gun just couldn't catch up with the enemy or my mouse movement. I just switched back to the XG2402 and the difference is humongous.
On the XG2402 for example I am 9 of 10 at the top of the list on the servers I usually play. With the XL2546K its something like 3 out of 10. I like Quake Live just for that. It's a game where I am actually good at. I don't wanna give that up.

So unfortunately the XL2546K is going back to the store tomorrow for a refund.

I am going to give the 360hz a try. If its also mediocre @ Quake Live I'm going to stick with the XG2402 until the new Viewsonic 24'' 240 IPS comes out. Around next week the Alienware AW2521H 360hz should arrive. I will keep u guys posted.

Questions
1. Did you try both DyAc ON/OFF?
2. Do you have a 1KHz mouse or an 8KHz mouse, such as the Razer Viper?

The limitations of a 1KHz mouse starts to show a bit at 240hz and really starts to show at 360Hz.
The mouse should be at least 4x-6x the Hz of the display. Even an 8KHz mouse downclocked to 2KHz is infinitely better than almost any 1KHz gaming mouse nowadays. Sometimes 8KHz overloads the game, but 2KHz is fine.

That's pretty so-so.... But first, is this after 72-hour break in for both monitors?

Takes that long to make all shipping pressure spots (at edges, etc) fade a bit. You know how LCD goes weird when you press a finger on it? Shipping boxes does that -- and sometimes takes days to fade all those.

If still there after 72-hour, then yes, kinda bad.

The black inconsistencies come from multiple different causes:
- Backlight bleed
- IPS glow (for IPS)
- Panel lottery
- LCD liquid misdistribution (like longterm finger pressure spots or longterm packing pressure spots)

So to reduce the odds of the last item, make sure you break in the monitor for at least 72 hours, run it as hot as possible, maximum brightness, for about 72 hours nonstop, to get the panel to break in (even distribution of the liquid in the glass sandwich in the Liquid Crystal Display (LCD)). Occasionally this will turn the bad left-image appearance to something less inconsistent more similar to right-image appearance. Backlight bleed & pressure spots stack on each other to amplify each other...

Breaking in the LCD by running it nonstop for a few days while warm (if cold room, can use maximum brightness to self-heat the LCD a little) also helps some bracket pressure spots too.
