Yes, Imo both 0 and 1 look ugly.
Stock it's set to 5 so I wouldn't go lower.

I have no idea, there are no 2540k reviews yet.

I assume that the only way to get colors right on TNs is to get a colorimeter and manually do it yourself.

Are you in standard mode?
Stock for Standard Mode should be 0, not 5. The FPS/RTS presets have different values because the color, sharpness and gamma settings are different.

Going from 0 to just 1 on my XL2746S (gamma=5) raises the red and blue gamma points considerably, at the 45% slider, from 2.15 / 2.2, to 1.9 !! So there's no way "5" can be default unless it's part of another picture mode.

I'm on edited FPS 1 mode, should I edit from Standard mode for better color accuracy? Am I just doing it wrong?
Is FPS 1 mode the same as Standard mode assuming that every single setting is the same?

I'm not sure.
On my XL2746S, it seems that setting FPS1 modes and Standard Modes to the exact same values results in the same image (EDIT Nope it doesn't). But I haven't spent time going through it with a fine tooth comb. I do remember that on the older Benq monitors, the FPS and RTS modes both did different things to the blue and green (and even the brown) color channels, causing them to look drastically different even with RGB set at 100% on each channel. e.g. FPS1 mode made blue look more like sky blue, red was almost scarlet, browns looked more reddish, and in RTS mode, green looked almost pastel like. I'm guessing this was something low level with the Hue and Saturation channels that the user simply did not have access to on the older Z series monitors with the Mstar scaler. I haven't seen those subcolor shenanigans on the XL2746S though.

What *i can* see is that the factory menu seems to have these settings exposed to the user at least.

*EDIT* I'm wrong.
the FPS and RTS modes do change the internal settings.

This is FPS set to the same OSD values as standard Mode.

Sorry for the ugly image. I forgot my phone camera doesn't like blur reduction.

So, Yes you're doing it wrong. Calibrate from Standard mode by saving Standard Mode to a S-switch profile first, then go from there.
BTW you can change those subcolor settings in the factory menu. What I do not know is if it survives a refresh rate change or a power on/off cycle or not, or if it's saved to the S-switch or gamer profile and can be recalled later. I doubt it is, since the "OD Gain" resets (back to the default values for AMA off/high/premium) on any refresh rate switch.

The 2546k does have a problem with the black equalizer. It slightly yellows the image and when it switches 0 to 1, the light areas become darker, who has the same problem, check. The black equalizer should not darken the light part of the image, this is observed on my monitor, there is no such problem on 2546.
