VG259QM vs VG279QM 1080p 24vs27 inches

Post by albusgui » 30 Oct 2020, 15:31

I'm having a little trouble finding the best monitor for me right now;

I'm looking for a IPS 240hz and there's two options here in my country:

VG259QM vs VG279QM

In promosale they're the same price, but I've read about the PPI thing and the 27 inchs is bad for 1080p.

I'll play FPS and MOBA games cuz I already have a 4k 120hz Tv for triple AAA

Is it a wiser choice the 24 inch for 1080p?

I like my 24.5 inch VG259QM

I sit in front of a desk, so it's not that small when you're close to it

i sold away my vg259qm to get an ultrawide because i am using 2 monitors, one vg259qm and another dell monitor.

my pc kept hanging when i turn off the monitors when i was afk and once i am back, i moved the mouse and my pc hang. Not sure why this happen but it only happen when my vg259qm is plugged in.

I sold that away and now currently using a 34 inch ultrawide, and my pc doesnt hang anymore. i am using the ultrawide for gaming and work as well.

Playing csgo and tbh, it is still fine. Gaming is all about skill and not so much about 280hz vs 144hz because tbh, it dont really matter so much. Of course there are plenty of arguments here and there which i will not go to, but tbh. it seriously is okay to play on 144hz.

This is a bug of Windows 10 when you use 240hz panel and some another monitor with lower hz. I had the same situation when I had VG279QM and second 60hz TN panel, PC was hanging from time to time. When I sold 60hz display with only VG279QM it's become fine.

Tried to use 24.5 Acer vg252qx after vg279qm, and it's become small for me, now for me 279 is better in every cases whereas it's FullHD. But I play 4:3 with black bars in CS GO, but with Full display it could be hard on 27.

i see.. that explains it.

it was damn frustrating. everytime i go afk and monitor went to idle...the next time i move my mouse to "wake" my laptop, the monitor will pop back up but it will freeze there. Only option is to force reboot.

I even had Asus technician to came down, the technician swap the monitor mobo chip but retain the display panel. Issue still persist on my machine. He then use a bootable OS to test and it worked fine, then he claim that my OS might be corrupted. Oh well.

Anyway i have i am in love with my ultrawide, using it for csgo and work ( so i dont need 2 monitors already as the ultrawide serves split tabs) TBH, of course gaming on a high refresh rate will be better but for the vast majority of people, if you are not a paid competitive player, a 144hz or a 280hz really doesnt matter. The improvement is miniscule for layman. I still able to play well on csgo with the ultrawide on competitive 5 v 5s in faceit.
