Dual monitors - mixing 60hz & 240hz

Post by pstn » 03 Nov 2020, 18:25

Hi,

does having mixed hz monitors (a 2nd monitors that's 60hz) affect the performance of main 240hz display in any way while gaming? or would it be ideal to get a 2nd 240hz?

Thanks

Some games will exhibit performance issues when running in windowed (including borderless windowed) mode in mixed refresh rate setups. Newer games are less likely to exhibit issues as Microsoft implemented a new DXGI feature to entirely fixes it and Windows' "fullscreen optimizations" feature (which utilizes the aforementioned DXGI feature) can help work around it by allowing you to select fullscreen mode in the game and have it behave more like borderless windowed mode without the performance issues. Games that run in proper fullscreen mode are not affected.
