Cyberpunk 2077 -- Mouse movement issues/observations

Post by Chief Blur Buster » 11 Dec 2020, 16:58

Hello all,

For those who have installed Cyberpunk 2077 and started playing it -- it generally plays best when played in GSYNC mode. (GSYNC + VSYNC ON in NVCP, plus VSYNC OFF in-game with framerate cap 3fps below).

Over time, I hope to raise gaming industry awareness about mouse precision even for casual gaming.

One major observation is that mouse movement is somewhat sluggish/buggy for seasoned high-Hz users. In a few weeks / couple months once CD PROJEKT RED has gone through the most severe issues,

I noticed that diagonal mouselook movements in Cyberpunk 2077 is more jittery/zigzaggy than horizontal movements (turn left/right) and vertical mouse movements (look up/down).

Have you noticed the same?

P.S. Intent of this thread is a mouselook fluidity thread

Ye it's not that smooth, btw, i got a 1070 and im going on like 50 60 fps, should i cap my fps at 57 or 141 with gsync and vsync on in nvcp? I got a 144hz

mouse movement seems relatively fine for me with a 3090 but i need ray tracing disabled to have a fluid experience.

I have been playing it with 60hz singlestrobe vsync on with rtss cap and it's really smooth just had to turn down my settings. Without rtss i couldn't get it smooth at all even with normal vsync(no rtss).

I have not noticed the mouse feeling too horrible. but yeah i doubt they put any effort into mouse movement accuracy. lots of bugs and werid design choices in this game.

I played it abit with 240hz freesync and while it's smooth it just can't even hold a candle to single strobe :) 75hz is also very good if you don't mind turning down your settings even more.

only really get stutter if the framerate dips which isn't that often with my setup.

boy ulmb really exposes how bad screen space reflections handle movement. you see the grain failing to catch up to the objects moving I turned it off. I'm also wondering if dlss ruins motion too, has anyone tried it with blur reduction? I don't have an rtx card to test.

I haven't tried the game myself, but read about other users lowering their polling rate to 500hz specifically for Cyberpunk 2077 for smoother mouse movement.

that might explain why i don't really notice any stuttering. i'm running 500hz 800dpi

Seems this game is CPU hungry, some people reported low FPS with under half GPU usage. With this background, polling drop to 500 seems oxigen for the CPU. Especialy bad with AMD CPU, only using phisical cores, because seems compiled with Intel C++. There are one trick, modify .exe header to enable AMD virtual cores, full 16 core/32 threads with last AMD high end CPU, until patch fix it.

I've also noticed that mouse look in this game is not as responsive as it should be.

Not sure if it's just slow rendering, post-processing, other game engine stuff, or some pixel response issues on my LG 27GN950 (4k @ 160Hz) but I certainly notice more motion blur and input-lag in this game while turning at any angles (diagonal seems most obvious due to combined effects of XY). Using 1kHz polling as usual and of course blur is turned off in game settings.
I'm sure that increased GPU load is partly to blame and the input-lag was also noticeable at 1080p with all settings except blur Ultra, DLSS Quality, RT Ultra.

Now I'm running patch v1.04 with DLSS Quality, RT Ultra, and 4k on a 3090, so input lag feels pretty high.

Hello,

I have Ryzen 5 5600X and RTX 3070 and Asus VG259QM. I believe 280hz not good idea for Cyberpunk (or I'm wrong) so I will use 244hz. Which setting should I use to get smooth experience? Adaptive Sync + ELMB and Gsync+Vsync off. Or what you can advice?
