I see that you own both a MAG251RX and an XG2431, how does the latter compare to the MAG at 240hz in terms of strobed and unstrobed motion clarity?

I'm looking for an upgrade, also considering 360hz but I could also wait for Benq 360hz TN.

I see that my VG259QM is struggling keeping up with 280hz and downgrading to 240hz results in better motion clarity overall, I don't want to trade latency with motion blur, I'd rather go all in on motion clarity but I also wasn't 100% convinced by the 2546K overaggressive overdrives.

Today's my second day using this monitor and I noticed that monitor's speakers are silent when I play anything with sound from my pc unless I go into the monitor's OSD sound settings and adjust the volume manually. My windows volume is set to 70 and it isn't muted either. Anyone else experiencing this?

The monitor's volume adjustment sets the maximum volume level.

Leave the monitor's audio at the highest volume level you plan to use.

And then use your Windows volume setting to set it lower / mute it on the Windows end.

Got the monitor ship-forwarded to Russla.
Really liking it.

Very nice near-zero-crosstalk 165Hz with Strobe Utility + QFT!

I presume you're using a custom QFT 165Hz mode. It looks similar to the 180 Hz QFT mode I've tested.

Update: Regarding my previous post, I was using the included DP 1.4 cable from Viewsonic and I didn't hear any sounds from the monitor's built in speakers unless I went into the monitor's OSD menu and adjusted the volume setting there and then I could start hearing sounds from the monitor speakers like normal.

More importantly, today I tried swapping out the included DP 1.4 cable for a HDMI cable I had laying around, and I was able to hear sounds from the monitor automatically without having to fiddle around with the monitors OSD sound settings every time I turned on my computer. Something about the monitor interacting with audio drivers is buggy when using a DP cable. Great monitor tho for gaming

XG2431 has a faster panel and can do strobing without crosstalk at higher Hz.
MAG251RX also has a subpar strobe pulse phase tuning, XG2431's Strobe Utility allows you to tune it all yourself.
It does lack a software OSD MAG251RX has, but I find osd buttons a lot easier to navigate the menu with on the XG2431.

Unstrobed motion clarity is also better as the panel is faster, but you will not be able to set custom overdrive via Strobe Utility as it enables custom strobing automatically.

Actually I have a question. Am I right that this monitor does the QFT automatically?
After making two profiles for 165 Hz with no VT tweak and 166 Hz with high VT I can't really see a difference in the higher/lower parts on the screen between them.

Thank you for your reply, I'll most likely wait for the XG2431 to hit the EU market and then I'll sell my VG259QM (Unless Zowie comes up with a 360hz TN, I contacted both AUO and Zowie to have infos regarding panel production and/if Zowie has something like that in their roadmap).

Yeah, I did notice that. And if you switch resolutions from your device or switch any cables it goes back to being muted again. Seems like a bug.

On another note, am I the only one that got a glossy version of the XG2431?

Glossy? That comes to me as a surprise.
Let me reach out to ViewSonic to ask if this is intentional or an aberration (panel batch).

If your specimen is unique, people might actually offer more than what you paid for it. It’s bad for bright rooms but better picture quality for dark rooms.

Does all features work, PureXP included?

I'm sorry, I was just kind of joking around with you guys. It didn't come that way, I modded it. I can control the lighting conditions and I prefer glossy screens for the richer colors and better perceived black levels and contrast. I love the monitor and it looks amazing this way.
