Hey guys I have this monitor but I have tried via HDMI and DP and I do not get the G-sync option in the NVIDIA control panel. Is there a setting that needs to be applie dto enable G Sync?
Over DP at least, you should be able to see this:

Doesn't it show up? What's your GPU?

You need to enable XG2431's FreeSync feature via monitor menus (turn PureXP off, and then turn on FreeSync), in order for NVIDIA Control Panel to show the G-SYNC Compatible feature in NVCP.

Thanks got it working with Freesync on.

1. So is it correct that you cannot use Gsync at the same time as Pure XP?
2. What is better having Gsync on or Pure XP?
3. I am running an RTX4090 - is it still worth running Gsync at all for smooth frame rates or at that point, not worth turning GSync on?

Cheers

Right Tool For Right Job.

- If you need aim-stabilizing behaviors in CS:GO and other FPS games (ala DyAc)
Then use 240Hz + PureXP + VSYNC OFF

- If your game can run at high smooth frame rates, e.g. 120fps
Then use 120Hz + PureXP + VSYNC ON (or another low-lag VSYNC technology)

- If your game fluctuates massively in frame rates and stutters a lot
Then use FreeSync to smooth the stutters.

There is an element of user preference too (motion blur sensitivity, stutter sensitivity).

I have an RTX 4090 so I am am confident that I can run 240hz + PureXP + Freesync/Gsync, however it seems that when I enable Freesync the option to enable PureXP is greyed out in the OSD menu.

Is it actually possible to run Freesync/Gsync and Pure XP at the same time?

No. Most displays can't do VRR+strobe at the same time. ASUS and Gigabyte does now, but you will have some quality tradeoffs (e.g. crosstalk artifacts).

I just bought a XG2431 in Australia. However, the OSD buttons don't (seem to) work. I suspect it's either: just a dud unit and requires a warranty return; or this is a systematic quality control issue in the Australian market. However before I return the unit, does anyone have any things for me to check? And, can a few of you confirm that you can reliably use your OSD buttons?

## Further info

The power button works fine.

I can sometimes get the OSD menu through pressing random simultaneous combinations of the OSD buttons. This is not deterministic. But then I can't reliably navigate it (and it generally goes away after an apparent inactivity timeout, even though I'm pressing all sorts of OSD buttons).

Simultaneous OSD button presses of 3+4 or 2+4 throws up the "OSD Lock/Unlock" button. But it is indicated to be unlocked. Additionally I've locked and unlocked the OSD menu through this. That doesn't solve it.

I'm on an Nvidia GTX 1660 TI. Connected on a Display port to the XG2431. I'm in a triple monitor setup with old 22" TN Viewsonic on each side of the XG2431.

## I've tried

* Updated my Windows 10 Pro to the latest version: 22H2; OS Build: 19045.2251
* Updated the Nvidia drivers to the latest: 526.98.
* Installed the Viewsonic Drivers, Standard_Monitor_Driver_Signed_Win10_x64.exe, from https://www.viewsonic.com/au/support/downloads

## Systematic quality control issue in Australia

A systematic quality control issue *might* exist in Australia because [Optimum Tech, in The Rank 1 240Hz Monitor - Viewsonic XG2431](https://youtu.be/GOgs15DmGqU?t=46) mentions
> The OSD menu buttons ... are absolutely atrocious. I mean they probably are the worst that I've used. There are some moments where you press them in and they don't really do anything.
And as atrocious as it was for him it sounds like his buttons were more usable. Of course it could just be that he and I were unluckly in both getting dud units.
