Would do say this is a worthwhile upgrade for the VG248QE? I play mostly FPS games on the Series X (already get 120hz w/ HDMI to DVI adapter) and some PC here and there.
VG248QE? That’s an oldie.

Monitors such as the XG2431 and even VG259QM are already an upgrade relative to a nearly ten year old monitor, and the XG2431 is one of the few 240Hz panels with super low 60Hz and 120Hz latency, plus you get access to strobing or VRR with consoles.
Excellent. Thank you :)
It’s an oldie, but it still holds up pretty well!
FWIW, I still have a VG248QE and have been holding out for the XG2431 since it was announced as I heard it was going to be ideal for someone like me with extreme sensitivity to motion blur (super fun medical stuff).

Just hoping that a UK release date gets announced soon. I can't use the VG248QE to game anymore and haven't been able to play for about 9 months :(

I want to know if this panel has a better motion blur reduction than MAG251RX. Also the MAG251RX has an 8-bit panel and this one has a 6-bit panel.
I'm wondering the same.
I'm looking at both this monitor and the MSI one but I'm undecided because I don't know how good the XG2431 is.

I submitted a sales inquiry to ViewSonic yesterday about the availability of the XG2431 in the UK and just got a response.

TL;DR: Like other users, I too was told that "ViewSonic Europe won’t actually be taking stock of this monitor at all" and was instead directed to consider the XG251G being released in November; and the XG271QG being released in September (release dates subject to change pending logistics).

Full email below:
Thank you very much for your enquiry about the ViewSonic XG2431 Monitor, and for your interest and patience.

I’m afraid I have bad news as ViewSonic Europe won’t actually be taking stock of this monitor at all.

I personally am sympathetic to your position as I was looking forward to this monitor myself. I currently have the XG270 and do really enjoy it but was hoping to go back to 24” for FPS, and maybe get something higher resolution for less competitive gaming.

You may very well be able to find it online at a reseller / etail website from another region, though I would imagine there would likely be additional international shipping fees.

The XG251G will be coming out in November, with the below specs, listed very briefly:

25" FHD SuperClear® IPS 1ms 360Hz G-Sync gaming monitor with HDMI, DisplayPort, USB, speakers, full ergonomic stand, RGB lighting, 3 sides frameless, hood.

As an evolved mixture of the XG270 and the XG270QG, we also have the XG271QG coming in September, with the below specs, also listed briefly:

27" QHD SuperClear® IPS 1ms 240Hz G-Sync gaming monitor with HDMI, DisplayPort, USB, speakers, full ergonomic stand, RGB lighting, 3 sides frameless, hood.

Please note that the release schedule for the above two monitors is subject to change as our logistics are still experiencing challenges in the wake of recent global events.

Many thanks again and apologies for the disappointing response.

I remain at your disposal.

Kind Regards,

Luke Adams | Key Account Manager
Kind of at a loss of what to do now as I had been banking on getting this new monitor so I could finally start playing games again.

Any suggestions?

I contacted ViewSonic Benelux and they said they have no date as of yet but they will keep me updated when they do get one, somewhat similar in line with the rest but there seems to be a chance it will become available.

I also sent a "sales enquiry" thing via their website and this was their response.
Many thanks for contacting us.

Unfortunately our worldwide strategy doesn’t include the distribution for Europe of XG2431; even tough we get your feedback as suggestion and take care of it.

Kind Regards.

As a ViewSonic monitor owner myself, i'll make sure to skip them next time i'm looking for a new one.

Anyone have a chance to mess around with one yet and have any technical input on its performance yet>?

Thank you, Chief. This monitor is great. I'm really happy you pushed for the feature set it has. The next reasonable step I can imagine would perhaps be some sort of built in high vertical total function to be able to achieve this level of clarity outside of PCs with custom resolutions...
Built-in plug-and-play Quick Frame Transport in EDID’s is something I’d love to see happen eventually.

The biggest show stopper is Window’s lack of support for supporting multiple timings per refresh rates (e.g. 60Hz legacy versus 60Hz QFT).

Theoretically this could be configured as a setting inside the monitor to automatically enable/disable such EDIDs (“Quick Frame Transport ON/OFF”), which would be a shortcut. Another way to do it is via scan conversion inside the monitor instead (but that can add more lag than delivering the signal faster over the video cable, such as 60Hz refresh cycles in 1/240sec).

Just like:

FreeSync ON / OFF

Long term, I want multiple monitor manufacturers to consider:

Quick Frame Transport ON / OFF

This is the more automatic version of Large Vertical Totals. Maybe I need to write a HOWTO article for monitor manufacturers to tell them how to transmit a fixed-Hz signal rapidly via a custom EDID (e.g. 60Hz refresh cycles delivered in 1/240sec).

How does the 23.8" XG2431 panel compares to the first gen of 25" 1080p 240hz IPS panels in terms of colors and response times?

Blur Busters invents the tests that monitor reviewers use — we rely on our monitor reviewers to do these mass comparison tests.

But there is one MAJOR distinction that is so huge (shows up like a christmas tree in lag testers) that I can break this ahead of reviewers:

As a general rule of thumb, most Innolux-based 23.8” panels have lower input lag than 25” panels, because they are horizontal-scanrate multisync. So you get super-low 60 Hz latency — you can esports with consoles AND computers with the ViewSonic XG2431.

All known 25” 240Hz panels switch to a kind of a buffered mode for low-Hz (buffers 60Hz signals and 120Hz signals to output them at 1/240sec max-Hz on the 240Hz LCD), while the 23.8” panels will sync LCD scanout to the signal scanout. This adds input lag for low-Hz signals on a high-Hz panel unable to natively refresh at lower Hz.

Do the full QFT specification also include v-sync interrupt position related to v-blank?
