What are your motion blur reduction priorities?

- Best out-of-box strobing vs best custom tuned strobing?
- Max Hz or any best-possible Hz (below max Hz)?
- Console or PC?
- Strobe Hz range?
- With or without custom tweaks?

XG251G is rather excellent out of the box, possibly better in some situations, but if you want custom strobe tweaking, the XG2431 can be tuned to beat it. XG2431, under optimal situations, will generally beat the majority of monitors if you use the QFT tweaks with large amounts of refresh rate headroom below max Hz. XG2431 can strobe from 59 to 241 Hz in literally 0.001Hz increments, something most monitors cannot do.

See this animated comparision -- "Ultra Large Vertical Totals". This is the quality possible with a custom QFT-based 100Hz on an XG2431, where a "100Hz" refresh cycle is transmitted over the cable in 1/240sec and refreshed onto the screen in 1/240sec, allowing more time for LCD GtG to settle between refresh cycles.

This applies to any monitor with a strobe feature. That's why 240Hz strobing looks better on a 360Hz XL2566K than 240Hz strobing on an XL2546K, as an example -- the extra refresh rate headroom creates clearer UFOs.

If you're playing in esports at max Hz you may not find this as important, as max-Hz strobing on all strobed monitors is generally always worse than below-max-Hz strobing (e.g. intentionally configuring a panel to lower than max Hz), since refresh rate headroom massively improves strobe quality.

If you like strobing (PureXP), the factory PS5-compatible strobe tunings for 120Hz refresh rate are already preinstalled in the monitor! Choose your preferred PureXP mode between Light, Medium, Extreme and Ultra. It is a brightness versus motion clarity tradeoff. Light will have 4x more motion blur than Ultra.

Light = 4/10ths the motion blur of nonstrobed
Normal = 3/10ths the motion blur of nonstrobed
Extreme = 2/10ths the motion blur of nonstrobed
Ultra = 1/10th the motion blur of nonstrobed

There will be less strobe crosstalk for the darker strobes, but the picture will be dimmer.

You can adjust to your personal preference. Normal end Extreme are usually good compromises if you need a balance between motion blur and screen brightness.

Can you tell me a custom pure xp for good brightness and good motion blur? Another question is if active amd is better for ps5 or will it have no effect?

I don't know what has happened but I'm getting a ton of screen tearing now when I have my refresh rate at 60hz and using a custom resolution profile in CRU. I am using RTSS to cap games at 60FPS and my card is a 3090, but I remember when I originally got the monitor I didn't have this problem.

Vsync is turned off.

Do I need to reset the panel to factory defaults and try setting CRU up again anew?

Received my XG2431, gotta say its amazing so far in terms of clarity and responsiveness. But I noticed this odd line on the top of the screen on both sides. It does not bother me as it's in the borders of the actual screen. But I am just curious if this is a QC problem or if anyone else has this too.

im curious on how should i cap my fps when using pureXP. I play valorant, i use ingame cap and sometimes my fps drops below 237. If i cap it at 300, it wont drop below 240 but as far as i know its worse than having exact 240 or 480.

So, whats better, having my fps dip 10 frames below my refresh rate when using strobing mode or let it fluctate between 240-300?

I have a 10900k and a fast memory kit, i disabled hyperthreading and i locked the cpu frequency.
