Hey Chief,
I’ve been trying to find console settings for this monitor on my Ps5. Am I able to use a Pc to modify my monitor for the custom profile set for Ps5 including colour contrast and preferable settings for 60Hz/FPS and 120hz/FPS gaming. Do you happen to know what settings are preferable for these two (60/120) modes while playing on my ps5?
Cheers/thanks!
Calibrating the factory EDID 1080p 59.94Hz or 60Hz setting on a PC, will automatically carry over to 1080p 60Hz on a PlayStation/Xbox.
Likewise for the factory EDID 1080p 119.88Hz or 120Hz setting on a PC, for the equivalent 120Hz on consoles.
Preferable settings for 60 Hz and 120 Hz are already factory-installed on the XG2431 already. The problem is panel lottery and temperature. I cannot control those.
So that's why beyond the preinstalled PureXP modes, that's where
Strobe Utility is your responsibility... Much like how a DIY colorimeter can get better-than-factory-color... Metaphorically this is the strobe equivalent of DIY re-calibration.
Hey Chief,
I tried what you said. I used the strobe utility on Pc for “custom” profile I tried settings that another used on the forum regarding 60hz which was 30 Width, 60 phase, and gain 5. When I try this my phase maxes out at 47 (on strobe utility)? Also on the strobe utility vertical range and refresh rate are not displayed while plugged into my gaming laptop?
Also for view mode I’m unsure if I should use standard versus FPS mode (I play Alex legends on ps5)? Standard has better visuals and brightness. For colour temperature I have it at 90 red, 90 green, 100 blue. Thanks chief sorry to keep asking questions I really want to get this monitor calibrated properly!

Oh my why did I ever think this monitor had custom crosshairs
Was about to grab one off Amazon now, double checked and found no custom crosshairs feature on this display which is a game changer. Sticking to my Asus VG248QG I guess

Weird! I've never seen Strobe Utility do that --
Are you using multimonitor mirroring with the laptop screen? That may be missing from my QA debug test suite, I have a Razer laptop but it works fine in monitor spanning mode -- but I never tested monitor mirroring (laptop screen = external monitor = same image). That would probably cause the problem, because Strobe Utility doesn't know which screen is using what vertical total, and just displays nothing. (That's my theory at least)
Try temporarily
disabling the laptop screen whenever an external display is connected then try again. External display as the only display. That should fix things, I hope.
You may have discovered a laptop-screen-mirroring-specific Strobe Utility bug for me to fix -- thank you!

Is the pixel clock on all XG2431s the same or can this value vary from panel to panel. My panel has a value of just under 600hz as displayed in in the OSD. This corresponds to the max I can push VTs to in Cru before the monitor ceases to function.
On my MSI MAG251RX I can push VTs to just under 607hz pixel clock in Cru.

They're the same. Pixel Clock is defined in the plug-and-play EDID (DisplayID).
Different manufacturers design different EDIDs.
As a rule of thumb, you may be able to slightly overclock the Pixel Clock (to varying success levels) by a few percent, but out of the box, the Pixel Clock is exactly the same because the 240Hz EDID is unchanged.

Hey Chief,
Thanks for the info greatly appreciate it! I was able to get it working with the laptop. I adjusted my custom profile however is there a way to adjust vertical total? I tried looking it up and was lost. Thanks Chief!

I’m also trying to make a custom profile for my monitor regarding PureXp+ using The following
Strobe Pulse Width= 30
Strobe Pulse Phase= 60
Overdrive Gain= 5
Refresh Rate= 59.9Hz
Vertical Total 🟰 1125 (hoping to increase this?! Unsure how to)
My dilemma is as soon as I close the Strobe Utility and select the monitor “XG2431” when reopening it always goes back to
Strobe Pulse Width = 13
Strobe Pulse Phase = 20
Overdrive Gain= 25
Long story short, how do I create a custom setting and save it to the Xg2432 PureXp+ For console gaming and not Pc? Thanks!

Am I the only one who is excited about the combination of 4K and PureXP in the XG320U. Great pixel density and, hopefully, great motion clarity. I am aware that 4K panels are more difficult to tune than FHD ones, but anyway it will be really interesting to see what the Blur Busters can achieve here.
So far Blur Busters has only worked on XG270 and XG2431. XG320U is not on the
list.

With the ViewSonic Strobe Utility, I notice that the animation will go fast then slow is this intended or a sign of some other issue?
What I am seeing is the animation playing at normal speed for around 10 seconds then switching to half speed for around 4 seconds but I think the exact intervals vary randomly. There is no issue when I play the animation in the browser.
