"So we can't expect to see it before the beginning of September." why ? q3 starts in july and ends in september so it should be latest in september or do i understand something wrong ?SixelAlexiS wrote: ↑13 Jul 2021, 06:26Directly from your link:Roadsign1993 wrote: ↑13 Jul 2021, 04:07did they say anything about a release date ?Hjaldrgud wrote: ↑13 Jul 2021, 02:23Nice. I hope it doesn't get crazy here in Norway. I was strategic and asked three different suppliers if they're gonna offer the monitor to show demand for it. Two of them has answered and will offer it. Hopefully the price won't balloon too much with two competing stores.

"ViewSonic XG2431 monitor will be available in Q3 2021."
So we can't expect to see it before the beginning of September.

for what its worth i asked viewsonic gaming on twitter about the release date and this is what they said
"Hello, we are still expecting a late July release, but given external factors, we may see it slide into August."

Then I hope we will see reviews coming soon, I really need to know the minimum nits of the screen in all modes to even considers it at this point.

Does the monitor support g-sync?

I was told september or october timeframe in an email
more positive note is that i might have ranted about marketing and he would forward my rant to the product team, which is nice if they read it

It is AMD FreeSync Premium, and works very well NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible mode. I think ViewSonic sent it to NVIDIA to get official G-SYNC Compatible certification, but I will ask.

First, this is a problem with all manufacturers, but it's important to learn the history of these GtG numbers in these smart, educated Discussion ForumsAxaion wrote: ↑11 Jul 2021, 09:57But seriously viewsonic? youre gonna claim "true native 240hz ips panel without OD it can do 1ms gtg"
I seriously doubt that, at any level, even if you averaged all the transitions, lets not even talk about spikes which are what matters more, having spikes to 10+ms for a few transitions in a row can ruin the entire image as we all know
This is downright sad of viewsonic and honestly should be straight up illegal to market stuff like this.
It's useful to inform that the VESA Standard of LCD GtG is from 10% to 90%
The industry standard for measuring LCD GtG has often been from black to white and white to black -- or other "fast" transitions. GtG100% is much slower (often 10x slower) than GtG10%->90%.
As many know, I'm somewhat critical of the single-number industry standard GtG measurements which doesn't show the entire GtG heatmap.
But 1ms GtG results from a VESA standard method of measurement, and that's where the blame lies.
Rightfully, web reviewers often use a more strict LCD GtG measurement method than the VESA standard.
There's some interesting backstory here in one of my articles of this hairpulling measurement. As long as 1ms occurs with just ONE color combination, with the generous VESA allowance, the 1ms is still moderately useful for certain kinds of apples-vs-apples comparisons. A 1ms IPS from 2021 is still about 3x less ghosty than a 3ms IPS from 2016, since we're often comparing realworld 5ms versus realworld 15ms (for GtG100%).
It doesn't scale perfectly, but you get the idea for relative comparisons, as long as you're comparing the same GtG-measure-standard versus same GtG-measure-standard. (same site versus same site, or VESA versus VESA, or whatever individual GtG measure method is in use). And also be careful not to confuse GtG versus MPRT.
TL;DR: Blame the correct party: VESA -- but after learning why the 10% and 90% cutoff thresholds were chosen, due to oscilloscope noisefloors of less precise measuring equipment from yesteryear.

Not a big fan of them calling display persistence MPRT (moving picture response time) less educated people read response time and automatically think it's pixel response.
I don't think it should be called a response time at all since its a fixed value.

Of course i blame VESA as well, but monitor vendors in general went along with it too. - im sure the monitor vendors knows this is an issue but no one wants to make the first step towards improving this issue, because the ones that does might get left behind due to the general user beliveing whatever is stated on the box.Chief Blur Buster wrote: ↑15 Jul 2021, 22:18First, this is a problem with all manufacturers, but it's important to learn the history of these GtG numbers in these smart, educated Discussion ForumsAxaion wrote: ↑11 Jul 2021, 09:57But seriously viewsonic? youre gonna claim "true native 240hz ips panel without OD it can do 1ms gtg"

It sucks, but it ticked me off they claimed that in the video, and i sincerely doubt it can do that without insane amouns of overdrive applied.
