How does one enable the single strobe 60hz option? I'm not finding that in the ViewSonic BlurBuster Utility or in the OSD. I am connected to a PS4 via HDMI.

According to rtings native contrast ratio is 900. Lowest value I've seen for an IPS display, especially in these days.

Is it because of keeping production cost low, cheap panel ? There are many 240hz low input lag IPS panels why pick lowest contrast ratio is still confuses me. I just ordered 1 and I am going to compare to vg259qm which has around 1300-1400 contrast. Difference looks big on paper.

I've looked everywhere for the single strobe 60hz option including in the service menu, but I still can't find it.

Right now with Pure XP+ on 60hz it is clearly double strobing, you can tell by the duplicated ghosted image.

Can anyone help please?

1. Which model do you have? Single strobe is not supported by other ViewSonic monitors.
2. Disable your gaming console's 120Hz mode and lock it to 60Hz. If your console is configured to 120Hz, then running at 60fps game will still have double image effects.

If you are sure you have the ViewSonic XG2431, and your console is configured to 60Hz, then:

XG2431 supports single-strobe out of the box. You have to make sure you're actually running at 60Hz, not 60fps at 120Hz, make sure you go to Control Panel. This situation can happen when you're running multimonitor, with one display 60Hz and one display 120Hz -- this would cause these symptoms.

If you are sure your console is outputting 60Hz with console VRR turned off, and you're still double-strobing at 60Hz (even with VRR off), can you please provide a photograph of your service menu with the ViewSonic XG2431 firmware version?

Hello Chief, yes it is the XG2431. Here is the screenshot of the service menu. I have it connected to only one device, my PS4. The PS4 can only be run in 60hz mode.

@Chief

My apologies, I got the terminology mixed up.

All PureXP+ modes out of the box should be single strobe, as you mentioned previously.

What I thought was double strobing, ended up just being crosstalk, which was more pronounced on top and bottom of the display.

So we are all good now. When a few articles cited the XG2431 having a "single strobe 60hz" option, I thought that meant there was an actual setting I had to enable.

-----

I still need to see if I can get passed the 255khz range in CRU, but other than that this monitor is fantastic at 60hz content. My custom strobe pulse setting is at 17 which is plenty bright ("Ultra" is very dark in comparison) but with the custom resolution, there is no longer any discernible crosstalk in action. (If I wanted to be super nitpicky there's still the most barely visible crosstalk on top and bottom during the UFO test, but that I believe has more to deal with panel lottery).

But yes, this is the CRT replacement I've long been waiting for. The previous Blur Buster approved monitor, the XG270, was very good at mimicking the best of CRT, which made me not miss my old FW900, but it was still lacking in "something" that served as a genuine replacement. But this XG2431 has closed the gap once you dial it in with custom settings. "Ultra" is a bit too dim for my taste on PS4 console but the other modes still work very well.

Definitely super highly recommended for PC. :) The motion clarity of CRT but with all the benefits of a high definition panel.

I don't even notice the flicker much. Yes it's there, but I guess I'm used to how CRTs would flicker that it doesn't bother me. Motion blur bothers me a lot more now

Man, I accidentally hit my XG2431 with a sharp metal and there's a deep scratch on the front layer. Though The LCD with the pixels are fine Does anyone know if this part can be replaced on its own? Anyone got experience with Viewsonic's servicing?

EDIT: Went to an official service center for Viewsonic, they said the price for servicing are close to a new monitor, and they usually replace the whole unit for other screen related problems. They're gonna contact Viewsonic Taiwan and I gotta wait a week for a price quote. Guess I'll give an update later.

Also in case I want to replace this monitor, I can get the same model again, but I sorta want to upgrade either to a 1440p 240+hz or 1080p 360hz. IPS. Don't want an OLED yet (Rules out the LG and ASUS OLED). Don't want a TN nor any curved Samsung VAs.

Is the XG251G better?
The XG2431 monitor made me really appreciate amazing BFI/strobing. It's really hard to find info on 1440p 240+hz monitor's BFI/strobing quality. The ones available in my region are BenQ EX270QM and ASUS XG27AQM.

Does anybody know what the factory presets translate to in the strobe utility? ex. response time conversion to overdrive gain value

Monitor arrived. Colors doesn't look any different than other IPS monitors I've tried. Brightness is more than ok while using normal blur reduction mode. Any movement on screen looks so responsive. Without blur reduction my eyes would hurt after long usage. But with this you can track naturally.

This is amazing work, at this price this is a steal. Thank you for this.

While using the display @120hz normal blur reduction mode , there is double image its like blurry but worse than blur, topside(center) of the screen. Is there anyway to improve image quality in that area ? It only appears while there is movement.
