Do the full QFT specification also include v-sync interrupt position related to v-blank?
No, that's the responsibility of the OS/drivers. That said, you can still get lag reductions without this, when it comes to strobe backlights.

Although, for further non-strobed lag reductions of VSYNC ON, the game/os/drivers does need do need end-of-VBI frame buffer flips to get low lag similar to capped VRR. (e.g. 60Hz QFT having as low lag as 60fps cap at 240Hz VRR). This can also be done in a DIY fashion via RTSS Scanline Sync when the software/OS/drivers isn't doing it. Also, QFT isn't useful for non-strobed VSYNC OFF.

Anyway, the XG2431 is easy to use and QFT tweaking is a purely optional feature.

Sadly, I can't buy from Viewsonic's official US site, cause it won't accept my CC because it has no billing address, and in Kazakhstan they don't provide it. Now have to wait BandH or Walmart to be able to buy one and import it.

I’m just very curious how the XG2431’s strobing stacks up against the XL2546K’s DyAc+. When both are at 240Hz, and tuned optimally with the utility, how do they stack up?

Is this something you can share your thoughts on, Chief?

Chief, does the XLG2431 support Integer scaling?

You mean the XG2431 (no letter L)

Currently, AFAIK, no monitor outside of the Eve Spectrums support it. You'll have to do integer scaling via the drivers or via the software.

Blur Busters tuning chiefly does work on tuning that reduces motion blur (strobing, overdrive, etc).

Although I really don't want to discourage another Strobe Utility supported monitor, I would like to point out the additional settings -- the Overdrive Gain DDC command. This provides an additional adjustment that now makes it possible for a ViewSonic XG2431 to out-tune any monitor that is missing this (including the BenQ XL254* series). Especially when you need to do panel variance compensation / temperature compensation.

Due to the way the scaler/TCON on these 23.8" panels work -- the XG2431 is able to do low-Hz modes such as 60Hz and 120Hz at lower latencies than practically all known 25" panels, due to its horizontal-scanrate multisync capability -- it behaves like a native 60 Hz panel when running at 60 Hz, it behaves like a native 120 Hz panel when running at 120 Hz, etc. Something most 240 Hz panels is currently unable to do (having to buffer low-Hz signals for output to a 240Hz-only panel).

ViewSonic Strobe Utility is more flexible in that it allows you to select strobing mode, as well as adjust Overdrive Gain.

I will let the reviewers test the strobe quality of XG2431!

I bought it on ViewSonic US site and just got confirmation. They say delivery expected on 8/05. I also have the 390hz monitor so let see which one I'll return.
Update: XG2431 vs 25XV2Q
Did a comparision on my:
  • iPhone camera (iPhone 12 Pro Max, 4K, 60fps, HDR),
  • AOPEN 25XV2Q (390hz, TVR Extreme, AMD Freesync Premium Off),
  • ViewSonic XG2431 (240hz, PureXP Extreme, AMD Freesync Premium Off),
  • Mozilla Firefox on Windows 11: I plugged both monitors using DisplayPort and make the tested display the main display in Windows setting.

I am not an expert on the testing methodology of these pursuit-camera techniques, but if there's something wrong with my methodology please excuse the mistakes. I think I'll return the 390hz monitor.

Great comparison with out-of-box strobe tuning!
It appears you tested max-Hz strobe, which is a worst-case. The refresh rate headroom technique improves strobing further.

You actually can get even better quality strobing with a little tweaking too via Strobe Utility after breaking-in your panel.

1. Make sure to warm up your ViewSonic at least 60 minutes before testing strobe. LCD GtG is faster on warm panels.
2. Make sure you pursuit in full screen mode, because it automatically vertically centers the UFO.
3. Optionally, using www.testufo.com/ghosting is actually easier to hand-pursuit your smartphone on, if you decide to attempt hand-wave pursuit.

Strobe crosstalk photography can be done via stationary or via pursuit
A. For stationary, make sure you use 1/240sec camera exposure (1/Hz)
B. For pursuit, use 60fps video setting and dim your screen until you're able to see the sync track clearly while waving your smartphone (1/60sec exposure to capture 4 refresh cycles per camera exposure)

@Chief
I recently became a newbee to this whole motion blur reduction thing after realizing that motion blur is the thing that's been bothering me the most ever since I switched from CRT to LCD. I'm currently using a LG 144hz monitor that has a strobe mode. Problem is that I prefer very bright screens due to some eye conditions I have, and this monitor's strobe mode is just really dim to me. So I'm currently looking for the brightest monitor that has good strobe quality, and I always hear people talking about Zowie's DyAc monitors being really bright. How would you compare XG2431's strobe brightness to those DyAc monitors?

Id love to see a real review on this, comparing it to like the benq xl2546k, Asus VG259QM and some of the new 360hz monitors like Nitro XV252QF. Ive been waiting to buy a new gaming monitor.

This is my XL2546K with the same test.

I don't have motion pursuit images of the VG259QM but it struggled a little bit with dark transitions with ELMB (but it's still better than unstrobed)

Imo the XG2431 looks better than my VG259QM when strobing.
