Wait, does that faint image go away after a while? That is really weird. I actually did buy it and received it today. So far the quality is great. Out of the box calibration looks really good, but I will end up calibrating it. The response time looks really good as well, I played Call of Duty Cold War and it looks really good. There was no evident overshoot at the default "fast" setting, which is recommended in every review of this monitor. I didn't find any pixel issues yet, but don't expect to with Dell's premium pixel policy. There is only slight back light bleed, normal for IPS. If this checks out over time, I might end up being a Dell monitor guy. I bought two Acer monitors in the last several years, both have issues...

I am going to test it pretty hard for image retention issues though. I'll probably leave up the UFO test for a while and see if that initiates the issue.

Yes it goes away :)

Try disabling Eco mode? Probably that's what does it.. Either way it's not a deal breaker, I believe I read somewhere that once the Fan in the monitor stops once the monitor is off then the image goes away and the monitor goes black like it's plugged out.

It's not something that will break it, it won't make sense.. it's by design, it's there for a reason.

Overall man, this monitor is just plain simple great and better than whatever I used in my past, movies.. games, browsing web is just dayum~~
Greetings
I'm new to the whole thing and I've just bought the AW2721D but could you tell what the EKO mode actually does except what it should do according to commercials?

I suppose that Eco mode just keeps the monitor safe on standby mode, it saves energy supposedly..
Though I don't see it effecting the 240Hz performance, everything is smooth.. Eco mode just talks about Wattage/Power draw..
So not really sure tbh.
The description on the monitor before it goes to sleep, for ECO mode, says that it just goes into standby when the monitor does not have a signal. Sounds like pretty much every other monitor out there. I'm guessing, but don't know for sure, that it is the equivalent of the "deep sleep" option on other monitors.

Most of you might have already noticed that 10bit is limited to 144hz and you have to stick to 8bit on 240hz.
The thing I noticed was, if I create a 199hz custom res, I can pick 10bit, but it always resets to 8bit right after applying, so I kept tweaking a bit with CRU. You can run 10bit at 199hz. Heres how to do it:

- Start CRU
- Edit your Extension blocks
- Click Add
- Select Type: DisplayID 1.3
- Create a detailed resolution
- Set Refresh rate to 199hz and change VT from 1586 to 1585
- Apply, restart driver, open up NVCP and set ur refresh rate to 199hz and 10-bit rgb

Hope this helps.

I'll be frank with you and ask you a question, how do I even see 10 bit RGB? or how do I test it if I do not use the HDR feature?

Since I tried 10bit/12bit in 144Hz and couldn't tell a difference with 8bit SDR 240Hz..

even in games, what should I look for? It's interesting though, maybe we can find a solution for 240Hz 10bit? through CRU? Maybe there's a specific tweak.. but nonetheless, this monitor is great with colors, period.. how better can it go?

The difference will be very slight, if you notice at all. This monitor is an 8 bit 240Hz monitor. It isn't even really a 10 bit monitor, it is 8 bit + FRC. I have a 4K monitor that is a true 10 bit monitor. On that monitor, I can slightly tell a difference if I switch it to 8 bit. Mainly, some of the colors have more depth to them, but it VERY hard to see the difference.

What confuses me about this monitor, is the ability to select 12 bit. Everything that I see listed for this monitor states that it is 8 bit + FRC, that it can reach 10 bit. However, the option to use 12 bit is present. I guess it can reach 12 bit using FRC?

I'm just guessing but the reason why 240Hz 10bit is not supported might be that the bitrate would not fit into data rate of HBR3 DisplayPort transmission mode.

Is this monitor worth buying, or would a 1440p 165hz be better for the price?

Yes, this monitor is VERY well worth buying for the price. It really is finely tuned and the pixel policy is the best.

Agreed. It's a great monitor! One of the thing I really like about this monitor is the semi gloss coating, everything just looks so clean. I've got the monitor next to a window and there is some glare and even then I prefer this really light coating. I had the Omen x 27 for about a week and I still wonder who actually decided to ruin that monitor with such thick anti glare coating.

Yes ofcourse, I used a 60, 75, 144 and 165Hz monitors, even the newer ones.
They don't come close to how 240Hz 2K feels, it's just sharp and smooth and faster with low input lag, there's noticeable jitters/microstutters with 165Hz but with 240Hz they get cleaned out and the image clarity is superior and responsive.

There is a debate whether or not 165Hz vs 240Hz makes a difference, I say yes, some say no but I can definitely feel it.

I play CS:GO, Rainbow Six Siege and Valorant, all 3 games require you to be at your best, I believe in 240Hz and soon higher refresh rate monitors.
