If the 8qm is supposed to have slower response times than the 9qm, how is it that the rtings motion test seems clearer on the 8qm? I want the cleanest motion clarity and that's supposed to be dictated by response times. Do TN's with slightly slower total response times, but faster rise and fall still offer cleaner motion clarity? This is a confusing result and goes against the "math", unless rise and fall times are more important than total response time for motion clarity. Rise and fall are lower on the TN compared to the IPS's lower total response time.

I should note that I have the 8qm on my desk and have been using it for the last few days. It's amazing, and I have to say, I definitely can tell the difference between 240hz and 280hz. My hope was that the 8qm would have better response times and would fully accommodate the required 280hz refresh window. FYI the overdrive settings go from 1-5 on this model instead of 0-20-40 etc. The OD120 trick doesn't work on this model and it just glitches the osd.

Am I safe to assume from the rtings review that the vg258qm is superior to the vg259qm in motion clarity, or does TN have a "percieved" clarity difference to take into account? Possibly because of how overshoot seems to look darker on TN and lighter on IPS which look like either a "slight defining outline" vs a "light blurry trail"(I don't know much about this, just trying to make sense of it). I know colors are better, but honestly after tweaking things, the colors on the 8qm look great for TN. Also, the higher peak brightness is nice to better accommodate elmb while activated. Forgive my ignorance, if any, I'm trying to catch up quick. Any input or guidance is much appreciated.

I'm debating whether or not to return it for the 9qm. Not that it's bad - it's amazing.

Still patiently waiting for RTINGS or someone similar to review the 2540k so I can copy the monitor settings of people smarter than me . (cept overdrive because I honestly can't tell a difference in overshoot between AMA off or High, I notice a little on premium though so I stick with high atm.)

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to know if anyone has some UFO pictures or videos from the different overdrives of the xl2540k, looks like there's no reviews of this monitor yet... I'm very hyped about this monitor but i'm aware that the previous model suffers from visible light artifacts wich is very bothering to me! I would like to know if it still suffers from it? I'm just hoping it doesn't since it has a recent panel and perhaps better tuned overdrive??

proud vote number 3 , I don't think its gonna happen anytime soon lol. Maybe another site that are bigger fans of motion handling like ourselves?

I'd vote if I didn't have to *register* on the site to do that.
Having to register is a big negative and alot of unnecessary work. They could at least allow logins from facebook or google or something.

I'm gonna return both my XL2546K and my Acer Nitro XV252Q 280Hz IPS. I decided to stay with TN but my XL2546K is not the one. It's definitely sharper than the ACER, but it has a ton of inverse ghosting even with AMA OFF and OD gain on 0. The text also looks disgusting while scrolling.
In regard to DyAc, I didn't like it. I felt like it added a little bit more input lag. I also noticed some strobing artifacts while gaming and A LOT of artifacts while browsing the web.

I'm gonna buy the XL2540K and the VG258QM and see which one I should keep.

It's clear that Benq designs overdrives to be used specifically with Dyac but I honestly can't really see any overshoot with either AMA High or Premium and Dyac OFF when playing at 240hz unless I use a 240/480fps camera or I look closely at an ufotest.
I wonder how you don't see any overshoot, I can see A LOT of overshoot on both AMA High and Premium, clearly visible in UFO Test, basically the same as shown in Bijan Jamshidi's review. Is there something I am missing? Do you tweak it somehow?

Here's a picture from the review I mentioned, clearly visible whitish/bluish coronas, that's exactly what I saw on both of mine XL2546K's. It was fine for CS:GO, but for example in Aim Lab practice this level of overshoot was distracting, while OD80 on VG259QM is totally fine for both CS:GO and Aim Lab.

Hey Speancer, I'm currently in the process of returning my XL2546K because of too much inverse ghosting. (for some reason, on mine I can still see inverse ghosting even on AMA OFF and OD gain on 0). Did you experience the same problem on your XL2540K?

It looked similar in the UFO Test for both XL2540K/46K in terms of overshoot afaik, but in practice - which is more important - I recall overshoot wasn't an issue on XL2540K. That's the weird thing how UFO Test can be deceiving sometimes (the difference between UFO Test and practical tests), at least from my experience. My XL2546K was unusable in Aim Lab, for example, like I posted before - there was too much smearing with AMA Off and too much distracting overshoot with AMA High or Premium, as well as too much crosstalk with DyAc+. It was totally fine for CSGO though. XL2540K was fine for both Aim Lab and CSGO.

However, I do not recommend XL2540K whatsoever, it uses a different panel than XL2546K and it had pronounced pixel inversion artifacts. I've also had two units of XL2546K and one had inversion issues, the other one did not (only visible from extreme close-up). Just to add, my friend bought VG258QM and it also has pixel inversion issues. Do yourself a favour and do not buy TN panels in 2021 ;) The only thing that makes XL2546K special (and overpriced as f**k) is DyAc+ basically, otherwise its performance is not so impressive, if you ask me.

I have not used a XL2540K, but I did use a XL2546K for about 3 weeks. I would agree with everything said here. While I did really like dyac+ for fps games because of how clear and smooth it was, the thing is youre literally paying a $200 premium just to have the dyac+ feature and now youre stuck on a TN panel. It is a pretty overpriced monitor. I thought the monitor was just a typical 240hz monitor without dyac+ on. Nobody in their right mind should be buying a benQ monitor to use with dyac+ off.
