ASUS ROG STRIX XG258Q or BenQ Zowie XL2540K

Post by Ruudusk » 03 May 2021, 17:39

Hey, so I've decided to buy a 240Hz monitor and I can't decide which of these two monitors I want to get. I'm a pretty big noob when it comes to monitors, but I know I really want good blur reduction and low input lag/response time. I literally only play CSGO and Valorant (on a very high level), so I don't really care about great colors or G-sync etc. I would go for the XL2546 with DyAc, but I simply do not have the budget (it's about 610 USD here). I live in Norway, so the prices might be weird for you guys but I'm able to get the BenQ for 480 USD, and the Asus for 445 USD (it's on sale). I really can't decide so I would love some help with making my decision.

(I can also get the Asus TUF VG259QM for about 460 USD, I don't know if that is competitive with these)

Any answers are really appreciated.

I've said a couple of times here to people who want to buy gaming monitor right now to wait for Blur Busters Approved 2.0 ViewSonic Elite XG2431. It should be available any time now, if not this month. Expect premium blur reduction implementation,
it might even replace never endless zowie monitor recommendations.
TN panels are getting old. IPS are now catching up to them and are more futureproof option.

The (edit) XG2431 will be out this month.
You can wait for it.
Computers are a luxury. You do *NOT* need a monitor right now. You *want* a monitor right now. There is a very big difference between this.

If you lost all electricity for 3 weeks and had no computer to use at all, I'm sure you would find a way to survive, wouldn't you?

Don't mistake necessities for luxuries. Wait the couple of weeks for the announcement and you will be glad you did.

I completely agree with this and would always recommend to wait for something better.
I used to do the mistake of buying something out of excitement and then regretting it later or realizing I don't really need it.
This can be a problem if you have high expectations or tend for perfection.

Ofcourse sometimes people really need it as soon as possible, usually when your work depends on it but for gaming and browsing no.

Don't rush with this stuff.

But If you really need it now here are some to consider:

One monitor that is missing and has good blur reduction is XG270 - blur reduction only @75, 119, 240Hz are tuned by blur busters with this monitor.

So it does not occur to you that maybe they are a gamer but also work from home or does other work on the computer that they would need one. Regardless of the reason who exactly are you to tell them how and when and what to spend there money on? Hopefully your not married because with that attitude it wont be long for sure. Do not mistake being "helpful" for just being a plain jerk to somebody.

The XG270 has good blur reduction but is 27" and 1080p. From what I can find the VG258QM on rtings has pretty good blur reduction but I assume that is at max hz. The BenQ ZOWIE you mentioned is pretty good at blur reduction.
