Re: Acer 390Hz monitor - XV252QF
I need to do some testing, but the monitor seems to behave very strangely at 60 Hz. It’s not like it matters much to me, and I only switched to it for testing. When moving the mouse cursor over a black background, there’s like a black image of it trailing behind, but it’s behind by about a few centimeters. Is this because the overdrive is not tuned for 60 Hz?

price seems finally down to nearing(?) western level with the annual 11/11 sale

the monitor is not tuned for anything but 390hz. stay away from r6s that force you to use vulkan cus nvidia reflex or some other stupidness (gee, wonder who's intentionally cashing it in with 360 monitors 2x the price) or any ubi game that has similar "hz selector" bs that don't even work in whatever API, and basically ban out anything beyond 360hz. Can you imagine For Honor a console dominant game supporting 390hz on pc but r6s doesn't? how absolutely comical.lizardpeter wrote: ↑19 Oct 2021, 15:14I need to do some testing, but the monitor seems to behave very strangely at 60 Hz. stay away from games that has a "fps limiter" of sub 400, even for those with an unlimited option, beware. (for example quake is 500 or unlimited, they get my seal of approval). gameplay and optimization and actual achievable fps is another topic.

Re: Acer 390Hz monitor - XV252QF
One less documented workaround to help a 390 Hz monitor one-Hz tuning is 1/390sec QFT (Quick Frame Transport)
Basically ToastyX CRU modes that allows any Hz to be refreshed like a 390Hz frame, e.g. 1/390sec.
e.g. creating a custom 1920x1080 120Hz or 240Hz ToastyX numbers transmits and refreshes a frame in 1/390sec, which has the bonus of using the pre-existing 390Hz tuning.
For more information, see HOWTO: Create a Quick Frame Transport Mode. This may not work on all monitors, but it's worth a test. You're recycling the pixel clock rate of 390 Hz, at the same resolution but a lower refresh rate, which allows each pixel to be transmitted between GPU and screen at the same velocity of max Hz.
This is a hacky workaround to allow low-lag 60Hz or 120Hz or 240Hz mode (or any Hz) on monitors that are otherwise high-lag at lower refresh rates. But it works on many monitors that was designed as a superset of VESA Adaptive Sync (all FreeSync VRR, HDMI VRR and G-SYNC "Compatible" VRR), because VRR usually means a panel is generally QFT compatible (even for fixed-Hz QFT).
Consoles don't yet support non-VRR QFT, but you can create custom QFT modes with a Windows computer (ToastyX custom resolution utility), Linux (Linux modelines), or Macintosh (SwitchResX custom resolution utility).

For those of you with this monitor, how are you using it in 390FPS situations? Specifically, are you using ULMB/BFI or sticking to a setting that has a higher brightness?
I owned the Acer 1440p 270hz monitor prior and struggled with BFI on that monitor, it cut brightness by half and I wasn't thrilled. Preferred Dyac+.

Re: Acer 390Hz monitor - XV252QF
Mate, could you please try to do the QFT trick Chief is talking about above? If it behaves well at lower refresh rates thanks to that then I'll get the monitor right away.lyrill wrote: ↑22 Oct 2021, 22:47viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8580&p=72399&hilit=extreme#p72399mxblue wrote: ↑22 Oct 2021, 10:55For those of you with this monitor, how are you using it in 390FPS situations?
