I agree Slide. I also think 27 inches is too big. Even 24,5 is a bit bigger than what I like. I find 23 inches or 23,6 or 23,8 to be literally perfect for competitive gaming. Good Fov, good connection with the game, great peripheral vision, maximum focus.
We are not all equal tho and some people really like the bigger sizes.
For Single Player, and considering it costs as much as a great monitor... LG OLED C1 has no rival. I mean literally.. endgame screen for single player gamers. No need to look elsewhere. 4k, 120hz, OLED, infinite contrast, glossy, no blur, FreeSync/Gsync, extremely low input lag, HDR. I mean, this model will last for years as top of the line.
We need this kind of endgame on PC gaming monitors (I predict that Mini Led 1080p 480hz screens + 14th gen Intel or Zen 5 CPUs + DDR5 at 6400mhz CL20 to provide 480fps, will be endgame stuff).

Re: Acer 390Hz monitor - XV252QF
I’m using my 390 Hz for mostly COD. Getting 300+ FPS, I really prefer this monitor. I don’t use backlight strobing either. It just feels so incredibly responsive when the FPS is high and BFI is off. It seems that unlike you, I really notice no ghosting or blur of any kind. BFI on and off made no difference in game to me. I can see very slightly more ghosting than on my previous TN panel if I drag my fully white cursor over a fully black background. That’s about it.
I couldn’t have said it better myself. Top 240 Hz, 270 Hz, 360 Hz, and 390 Hz monitors are all amazing. Maybe on one or another you will get one more kill out of every 100. I guess which you pick comes down to what you value most.

more kill out of 100? lol the razer 5g is 99.4 and focus plus 99.6%, if u buy the marketing
i guess they are all loosely a manner of speaking in the end.

considering that the only advantage you get from 2k is sharpness, you can think of using a fast 27 2k 240hz monitor and create a custom resolution without scaling (like 2300x1300) so as to obtain an image of 24 inches inside the 27,less pixels to manage than the original 1440p therefore more fps obtained to obtain the best of 2 worlds, sharpness and size suitable for competitive, you will have black bands around the image so you have to be willing to accept this compromise.Notty_PT wrote: ↑08 Nov 2021, 19:28I agree Slide. At that point it remains to evaluate the differences in ghosting and blur that are obtained whit this solution compared to a panel at 1080p, probably on this aspect on a 1080p panel you will always have a better result.

Yes this trick is neat. I do same for my 32" 1440. It has same pixel density as 24" 1080p. So i can make 23.8 screen with 1080p resolution, 1:1. Full 1440 for desktop, 1080 for gaming.IIISLIDEIII wrote: ↑09 Nov 2021, 08:48create a custom resolution without scaling (like 2300x1300) so as to obtain an image of 24 inches inside the 27
Same goes for 27" 1080p. Someone here said VG279QM was too big for gaming. But with this trick you can make it smaller, plus u get more fps with lower resolutions. Pixel size ofc stays the same tho. With 1744x 981 you get 24.5" and 1696 x 954 23.8"
For 27" 1440p, 2256x1296 is 23.8", 2320x1305 is 24.5".
One annoying thing with this is windows volume pop-up when u chage it which i do very often. It messes with scaling and moves whole image to top left corner.

no to me it doesn't give windows any problem.Discorz wrote: ↑09 Nov 2021, 10:07Yes this trick is neat. I do same for my 32" 1440. It has same pixel density as 24" 1080p. However, there are few who use this stratagem and it is strange because so many people I read who would like to see a 24 inch monitor at 1440p arrive on their market and with this trick you can get it right away, maybe many people bother the black bands around the image, I don't know .
Re: Acer 390Hz monitor - XV252QF
not sure those are good idea guys. used to do that in the 00s. but not playing competitively obv.
Re: Acer 390Hz monitor - XV252QF
When switching to bigger sized screen its actually good for muscle memory consistency, if memorized by physical frame size (+other) - that's the theory I believe.
For strobing it can help too if top or bottom areas aren't tuned best.

Can you guys explain this further for a noob in the matter? Why such resolutions as 2300x1300, 1742 x 980, 1692 x 952 are not considered scaling?Discorz wrote: ↑09 Nov 2021, 10:07Yes this trick is neat. I do same for my 32" 1440.
