Asus VG279QM

Post by Binsweed » 05 May 2021, 11:38

Hello i have this issue on my monitor that seems to have happend

there seems to be almost full on delays from the monitor so that the screen don't seem to match what the cpu and gpu is putting out even though i'm trying to play inside the g-sync range capping my frame rate at 276 since im playing at 280 hz so the problem is that i can spot an enemy and suddenly just be instant dead like not even have the time to react to what has happend never had this issue with my old monitor so my question is could there be a problem with my displayport cable or is there something wrong with my panel cause ive heard of many issues with this monitor and i seem to have gotten one of early batches of it

Appreciate all answears

Have a great day /Binsweed <3

Is it some sort of input lag issue? Does it happen in multiple games? Is there any situation where issue is not present?

yeah that's what it kinda feels like but it's like the games isnt as smooth as you would expect from a 280 hz panel

it's like in csgo i'm way over the fps limit caping around 350+ fps in game but it's like the panel can't respond to what happens to what happens in the game cause ive heard my teammates sometimes call out a guy that i havent even seen from my perspecitve yet

I don't know man sounds weird. Are you 100% sure its a monitor related issue.
Is it present in games only or also on desktop?
Have you tried included hdmi cable or played around with osd settings. Try reseting it to factory defaults.
Are you able to record this issue somehow?

yeah i'm 100% sure there is something on the monitor side cause i can use the oc settings switching between 280 to 270 then the game goes smooth for a couple of seconds then it goes back to normal issue

yeah it's on the desktop aswell i can swing around an open window and it's almost like a ghost effect after the text can't even read it

yeah tried with the hdmi cable and there dosent seem to be an issue there cause then it flows on like normal i have time to react and see my enemies properly

don't know if im able to record it

I own VG279QM earliest batch (MCM103) and it works fine.

Just to confirm some basics here:
Input lag/latency/delay is amount of time between moving your mouse and seeing that movement happen on screen.
Or you're experiencing ghosting (blurry trails in motion) issues which is related to panel response times - how long it takes for a pixel to change between two colors. If response times are slow it can result in blurry distracting motion.

You say games aren't as smooth for 280Hz, does that mean it's blurry or choppy.
Note that VG25/279QM adaptive-sync range needs to be manually changed for AMD gpus with CRU software, from 240 to 280.

What about lower refresh rates like 240, 144Hz? Maybe its related to overclocking. Thats why HDMI worked normal because it only supports 240Hz max.

Update your gpu drivers and windows just in case.

What was your previous monitor model?

ah i see

i don't own a amd gpu got a rtx 2070 don't think there is something i need to change then?

144 has worked kinda well when it glitched out as can happen on this model from time to time when it goes into sleep mode and i havent realised it switched until i come into a game and look in the settings

i am on the latest nvidia driver maybe there is something wrong with the newers versions of drivers? and windows is always fully updates i check it all day to not get updates while gaming

my last monitor was the xl2411Z

I don't know how to help you. I need more detailed info to connect some dots. Try describing the issue better, or find an example online, or record it. Use other words for better description if you're able to.

Firstly lets find a situation when it works correctly.
Can you confirm if it works fine when overclocking is disabled (@240Hz) on DP cable? Or you are not sure?

i think i found the issue seem to be something with my ram timings making it look like there is something wrong and i also had a failing hard drive
