For color reproduction: BenQ XL2720Z or BenQ XL2420Z?

Post by Celantal » 19 May 2014, 18:44

I have a choice between the two monitors listed in the topic title, and I'm having a difficult time deciding. Which is better: the 24 inch version, or the 27 inch version? I'm assuming that one of the two panels is going to offer better color reproduction. Nothing on the level of IPS mind you, but better nonetheless.

Any suggestions?

Are you going to use the motion blur reduction (strobed) modes? During strobed mode (LightBoost, or BENQ Blur Reduction), the 27" panels have generally been easier to have better colors. On the other hand, the 24" panels seem to have ever slightly less strobe crosstalk (ghosting effects).

If you want better color quality in strobed mode on either 24" or 27", make sure you get Z-Series. Most other newer strobe backlights found in the Official 120hz Monitors List have better colors than LightBoost.

Have there been any confirmed cases of Newegg stocking the v2 firmware for the Z series monitors? How much worse is the color on the 24 inch as opposed to the 27? I really want the 24 as opposed to the 27, the 27 is too large IMO. But I want the best colors I can get on a panel of this type, so I could be willing to sacrifice that preference.

Sort of stuck in the same boat regarding the 24 inch.

It's only $363 from Newegg...but then again the VG248QE is $242 from them...Idk if I can justify spending $120 more dollars for the Xl2420z hmmm

The BENQ XL2411Z is less than $300.00. If you buy from BENQ.com, use the coupon "GAMER$20" to bump $319 down to $299.

XL2411Z It is the same screen and exact same blur reduction as XL2420Z, except the 11Z has a less fancy bezel, fewer inputs, and doesn't have the remote controller. The XL2420Z is expensive because of the extras beyond VG248QE. If you're looking for something more basic like VG248QE but better "lightboost", then look at the XL2411Z.
