Help me improve/fix my xg258q monitor

I got this monitor 6 months ago and i feel its great when it comes to smoothness etc but i read somewhere that the DP cable that comes with it is bad and doesn't give you full fps, and there is some latency that comes with it.
I also heard vga cable is best when it comes to input lag, hdmi 2.0 follows it then DP cable with the highest input lag out of the three ?!
I also want to know what are the best monitor settings that give best reaction time reduction/input lag reduction.
Is there any possibility to overclock it? Did anyone do it and is it worth it?
