Asus RoG Strix XG27AQM

Post by liquidshadowfox » 06 Jul 2021, 08:28

I finally got one and was wondering if anyone has experience tweaking the backlight strobe. I see the manual says there's a way to change the strobe length but no matter what I do I can't find the setting anywhere.
Things I've tried
ELMB sync enabled (with gsync compatible enabled)
ELMB without gsync enabled
Tried changing different color profiles

No matter what I did, I can't find the option. Anyone know if there's a way to access the service menu? maybe that might be where we can edit it? Locked OD on elmb sync is disappointing, I think it would have been better with OD 3 but it doesn't look bad on OD 4 (which it's locked to).

Just for people who want to play around with the settings, I found the debug menu...
Steps
1. Turn off the monitor
2. Push in the joystick and hold the power on button

To disable the service menu
press the power button and hold menu (5-way), then press menu again

The monitor should boot up with the service menu in the top left corner. There's a lot of options but I'm too scared to mess around with it atm.

I couldn't find any info about strobe length/pwm in user manual. Don't know where you read that.

For service menu try clicking power and joystick button at the same time, then open osd and see if new "F" letter appeared, open it. Thats how it works on my VG279QM.

Oh you already found it.

So is there a pwm setting to change?
Could you provide some photos of the service menu?

Here it is, I can't for the life of me disable this menu now however. I tried doing to same trick to disable it but I can't seem to get rid of it. Now every time I press the nipple I get this service menu which I have to exit out of first before I can open the actual OSD. Also every time I open the service menu it seems to reset all my monitor settings so I have to set the contrast, brightness, etc all over again... I regret my discovery -_-
Things I've tried
1. Factory reset (no effect)
2. Re-doing the following
Turn off display
Hold nipple in and hold power button
Monitor boots up but service menu is still there

Try "CLEANALL" from service menu. That should do the same or similar to factory reset.

EDIT: theres is an exit option, third from the top.

press the power button and hold menu (5-way), then press menu again
The screen should reboot and the menu will go away :) thank god.

Would it be possible to use OD gain to reduce the inverse ghosting of the OD setting 4?

the OD gain is 1A, I don't know what to change that to in order to increase or decrease. Might need some help here.
