Acer Nitro XV252Q or BenQ ZOWIE XL2546K? (VRB vs Dyac+)

Post by tpott » 16 Sep 2021, 15:19

Hello, I've been trying to figure out if I should get the Acer Nitro XV252Q or BenQ ZOWIE XL2546K?
I am curious if anyone has done any testing about how the monitors perform using UFO or in-game tests.

This was first brought to my attention by this video: https://youtu.be/GrVWF91zCGU where the reviewer does a few UFO tests comparing the two monitors. In these tests, it seems like Zowie's Dyac+ motion blur technology is actually better than Acer's VRB. Even though the reviewer says the Acer's motion blur reduction looks better, I think I disagree. Maybe someone can explain to me why it is better?
Because of this, I am wondering if the Dyac+ technology is better than VRB?

Obviously the Acer is 390hz with VRB motion blur reduction, and the Zowie is 240hz with Dyac+, but what if I can't run every game at 390hz? Say I can only play a game at 240hz max, which monitor would you pick for motion blur reasons only? Has anyone done any UFO tests with the Acer capped at 240hz so that the motion blur technologies can be directly compared?
390hz is an idealized situation where only low intensive games like CS:GO will be able to capitalize on; here the acer is clear choice because of the extra refresh rate. If you wanted to switch to a different game that capped out at 240fps or lower, at that point would you rather have the Zowie due to their motion blur technology?

TLDR: Is the motion blur reduction better on Zowie XL2546K better than Acer Nitro XV252Q especially when testing at <240hz on both monitors.

BenQ is definitely clearer yes. Actually XG2431 beats both in terms of motion blur reduction. Call it a new IPS Zowie if you will.
I'd say 1. PureXP+, 2. DyAc. 3. VRB. What I'd guess happened with reviewers is they got excited over 'finally getting strobing at more than just 240Hz', plus its 30Hz more than other expensive 360Hz options.
XV252QF probably is better in other section, but not in mrb. That monitor is half way tuned. Blur reduction in general is good for low Hz but as refresh rate increases, mbr benefits decrease. Plus the narrower refresh window at 390 requires faster response times.
