Just got done "testing" this monitor, and putting it back in the box.
Anyhow, off to the review.
Colors; kinda eh, out of the box its way too blue, gamma is messed up, no setting saves the gamma - you NEED to calibrate it
Calibration does NOT fix all the colors.
Mine had massive backlight bleed in the bottom right corner near the power LED, to the point im fairly sure its a design flaw.
Had image retention in sub 5 minutes on testufo, took 16½ minutes to recover by itself.
Good points; fast, nowhere near HP Omen X25, but for an IPS it does an impressive job.
Attaching Out of the box calibration report, and 2 testufo shots.
ootb calibration report, max brightness, goes downto 75 nits.
Gamut coverage and volume
Strobed 240hz at the highest (dimmest) strobing value, sorry forgot to use the proper screen.
Apparently theres a 3 image limit, so ive posted the non strobed testufo to imgur: https://imgur.com/a/Ux5XX9z
I might check the other shots i took for a better one, but this one should show the non-strobed performance decently.

Re: AOC 24G2ZU 240Hz IPS mini review
Finally someone did it.
Thank you for doing it.
What is the overdrive used in non-strobed image and is it locked with strobing enabled?

Re: AOC 24G2ZU 240Hz IPS mini review
all the shots were on strong, overdrive honestly didnt seem to do much at all.
there is aboost option, but only available at below 75hz for whatever reason, didnt try it
fairly sure overdrive was not locked

Re: AOC 24G2ZU 240Hz IPS mini review
Yeah that's what I wanted to comment. On strobed displays it can be easier to spot overshoot. But this monitor seem to have no overdrive applied or it could be very subtle. Maybe it does something for the lower refresh rates like 60Hz. Overdrive behaviour can also be different depending on the gpu u use, amd or nvidia.
'Boost' on AOC monitor is usually MBR (strobing). Do you mean 'Boost' is available below or above 75Hz? Can it do strobing at 60Hz?

Boost is only available on below 75hz strobing on it, didnt try it, only tried strobing at 240hz
And yeah, i generally only tested 240hz as thats the refresh rate that interests me, plus im lazy.

Re: AOC 24G2ZU 240Hz IPS mini review
Can you please check if it can strobe at 60Hz or 75Hz minimum?

Wait, so you didn't find this better ghosting, response time, input lag, and motion-wise better than the Omen X25? I'm confused, this is supposed to be using basically the best 240hz panel available. A guy here who preaches this monitor a lot even on top of the Acer 390hz (Notty_PT) said the Omen X25 (or the f version) was a slow panel in comparison to this "matured" one. What's your take on this?
Re: AOC 24G2ZU 240Hz IPS mini review
Notty very likely isn't using a high polling rate mouse, high dpi nor is running 390fps constant in games he's playing (he's a QL player, so he's capped at 250fps), which is why he'd rate the 240hz better.michaelcycle00 wrote: ↑18 Oct 2021, 20:43Wait, so you didn't find this better ghosting, response time, input lag, and motion-wise better than the Omen X25? As to why he likes the x25f less than the ZU, possibly because it's IPS, has similar performance (perhaps his x25f unit isnt as good as the x25 i.e.) and is a more appealing size to him (23.8")
Don't take Notty's word for law, higher refresh rate is always better if one is able to maintain it consistently enough.
Re: AOC 24G2ZU 240Hz IPS mini review
its nowhere close to an HP x25, i had the x25, and 25f, the 25f i had was straight up awful, kyube has a mate whos x25f seems good.
for reference, heres the HP Omen X25 testufo provided by Techless (youtuber, check his stuff out!)
and heres the best shot i found so far with the 24G2ZU
