Detirmine display panel on monitor macbook pro help

Post by Diesto » 08 Jan 2022, 14:47

Hi,

I have seemingly three identical Macbook Pro 15" 2012 (A1286) with the high-res display (silver bezzles 1680x1050) next to each other. In 2012 Apple made these monitors availble:

Glossy Widescreen Display (1400x900)

Hi-Res Glossy Widescreen Display (1680x1050)

Hi-Res Antiglare Widescreen Display (16580x1050)

Retina display

I noticed while comparing them side by side that Macbook Pro #1 displays more screen/image/text than the other two while running the exact same 1680x1050 resolution. Also the colors look a bit crisper but at the same time a bit more matte on Macbook Pro #1 compared to #2 and #3. I think its due to that Macbook Pro #1 has 32 bit color and the other two panels have 24 bit color.

I snapped these for cheap on an auction used so Im not sure if they had any previous screen replacements for example. I can only afford to keep one, so I want to keep the best one naturally :-)

Does anybody know if the 32 bit color panel is an aftermarket one?

I ran this command in terminal and noticed a differencence in :

« ioreg -lw0 | grep "EDID" | sed "/[^<]*</s///" | xxd -p -r | strings -6 »
